Firstly, what are some good "sick foods" to make, besides chicken soup?
Symptoms are headache, sore throat, fatigue, slight sore throat, slight fever/chills.

Secondly, does anyone know a good website that has lists or charts healthy subsitutions to baking/cooking?
For example, I've heard that applesauce/mashed bananas are be used as oil in baking

You forgot the bourbon.

Or, better yet, Wild Turkey Honey Liqueur. Alternately, a bit of DiSaronno microwaved for no more than 10 seconds also does a great job of soothing the throat and clearing the sinuses.

I use applesauce instead of oil in cake recipes all the time. Good stuff.

I've done this with chocolate chip cake, adn I find the with applesauce, the chips fall to the bottom, but with oil they don't, whats with that?

good sick foods are light, not very spiced and easy to ingest. Dumplings, noodles with butter or thin cream sauces, veggies cooked to the point of falling apart, etc. I like turkey in stuff when I'm ill (it has tryptophan and helps me sleep, yay!)

I thought the applesauce replaced the sugar? Sorry I have no links, tho I bet google would help out there:

Hmmm. My vegan friends use applesauce/mashed bananas as substitutes for the eggs in baking. I don't know if you can use them to replace the oil, which I think is kind of crucial in those boxed mixes that usually call for oil (texture/flavour might turn out all wrong). You might be able to replace some of the oil with applesauce, but not all; I'd try replacing a third with applesauce and see what happens.

In many cases, unsweetened applesauce can be directly substituted for oil, shortening, or butter, resulting in dramatic reductions in both fat and calorie content.

From above link.

Applesauce is also a good sick food, especially if it's warm and homemade!
