I just looked up the release date for Joss Whedon's The Cabin In the Woods, and found to my horror that it is the middle of April! For some reason I was absolutely positive it was the end of March, so much so that I'd told friends and we'd made plans for a cinema date in the last week of March. So this is most distressing - I have an entire 39 days to wait! Still, I've been waiting since it was first announced years ago - I remember my utter joy when I found out my favourite West Wing actor Bradley Whitford was collaborating with one of my favourite directors/writers/creative people. And then I remember my utter annoyance when it was delayed, and delayed, and delayed, and then apparantly shelved forever. So now that it's actually coming to the cinema, I guess I can deal with another 39 days.
I have to say I looked at the trailer and was kind of... not blown away. It looks sort of lame, and even though Whitford is second billed after Richard Jenkins, we don't see him in the trailer at all (unless he's in disguise or behind a mask. Which is possible). But I've just read an article in Total Film which calls it 'the most gobsmacking movie of 2012' and 'a horror genre revolution' which is 'original, inventive and groundbreaking'. It is also, believe it or not, 'going to change the face of cinema. Really.' Some pretty bold claimage there by TF. So I'm guessing the actual movie is a hell of a lot better than the trailer.
Also, I have been cursed with a new search engine (esnips) that's downloaded itself onto my computer and now won't go away, even if I restore to the point before it was downloaded, and although it is hugely annoying, it did provide me with some amusement when I searched for 'Cabin in the Woods release date UK' and the first suggestion that came up was Hoseason Holidays. Probably not the sort of place they rent out!
