Portrait of my mom

Jun 08, 2008 22:18

During my mom's visit last month, I managed to sneak a couple of pictures of her looking off the observation deck at Rockefeller Center. It was so beautiful and peaceful up there, but my mom might have disagreed. It wasn't until we got to the top that she mentioned her fear of heights.

I liked this one the best for the expression, but I had to do a lot of experimentation with cropping to get it roughly where I wanted it. I would have preferred that it be a full-length shot, but there was a woman standing right in front of her that detracted from the composition. I did appreciate the nuanced quality of light that the afternoon provided. I'll have to spring for another $19 to go up again soon.

My G9 may not be as quite good as my 30d, but it sure is portable!
