she's got a body like an hourglass [it's ticking like a clock]

Oh the weekend. When the fevered week wound down to relaxation and boredom. Which, for Ruby, was everyday. She considered it serious back pay for all that time spent in oh... Hell.

This week (which was really a month because she was too lazy to leave) she was in Chicago, the windy city. Even the windy city could not compare to all the hot air she got from Sam, but it was certainly a welcome respite while he was hunting the inevitable demon in the sunshine state or whatever. Maybe it was the garden state? Whatever, he was far away and the invention of caller ID meant she could ignore him until he texted her with something that meant he was probably going to die.

Then she'd help.

But for now? Kid was on his own.

Brushing her hair back from where it'd been whipped across her face she weaved her way through pedestrians as she made her way to the pastry and dessert shop she'd decided to try. (Cherry pie was half off on the weekend, another point in Mr Weekend's favor.) It was called Serendipity and Ruby thought it was indeed serendipitous that her walk up apartment was only a block away.

Regardless, she focused on the easy clacking of her heels on the sidewalk as she sauntered purposefully (and yes, a purposeful saunter was possible) to her destination, ignoring the chilly wind in favor of the click click clicking noise.
