I saw the Sox hit those 4 consecutive home-runs earlier this evening. Not something you see everyday.
"The Ride," to Waterville this weekend turned out just fine. I only did one third of the ride up, but honestly, I'm still tired from the full ride coming back, even if it is the easier of the two directions. I failed to get any sunblock on me this morning, as I rushed to get myself ready and out the door before the Smiths left. It's a good thing I rode with them, I probably would have gotten off course somewhere along the way. So, without the sunblock, I got some noticeable burns on my arms and knees, and I've got very distinct burn lines at my wrists and just below my shoulders. Oh well, it's not too painful. In the end, it was a good learning experience. On a different note, my crotch hurts, so I don't think I'll be biking any further than that in one day.
After dinner last night this guy gave a presentation on The R)ace A)cross AM)erica (RAAM) bike race, and it sounds like the most intense sporting event I've ever heard of. Oops, I ended a sentence with a preposition, but anyways. 3000 miles, and you've got ten days to finish, since you have to ride at least 300 miles a day to be considered a finisher. In the 26 years they've had the race, only about 170 people have finished. He said racers typically get 3-4 hours of time off the bike each day. And an Austrian guy who has both won a RAAM race and climbed Everest was quoted saying, "Everest is more dangerous, but RAAM is much harder." Yeah, I'll definitely pass on this one.
I'm hoping by the end of the week I'll have nearly all my remaining school work finished. I hope the end of the year hasn't been too hard on anyone.
