Synopsis: But as they descended down the road and the smell of oil became stronger and the noises grew stranger, Mizuki knew he should have just pulled off to the side; it wouldn’t have been any trouble since Aki was there with him. It wouldn’t be boring with Aki around because the two of them could talk about everything and more; over the years Mizuki had grown close to Aki, and while others didn’t get to converse with him much, Mizuki was one of the few who were able to. However, he wasn’t glad it was Aki sitting next to him because, if it were anyone else, he probably wouldn’t have felt so stupid when the car made it known that it wasn’t going to travel much further. Mizuki and Aki were close, there was no doubt about that, but Mizuki didn’t want Aki to laugh at him because he was an idiot; no, that would ruin the ‘being perfect in Aki’s eyes’ title Mizuki was trying to claim, a title that would, without a doubt, lure the pretty bassist in.

It was another one of those days where Aki found himself sitting passenger while Mizuki drove around aimlessly. If he had anything else to do, he probably wouldn’t have gotten in the car in the first place, but unfortunately for him, there was nothing that needed to be done; no songs to record, no papers to fill out, no meetings, and no interviews or photo shoots. Part of him didn’t mind because Mizuki wasn’t bad company, but then again, Mizuki was the one behind the wheel.
Mizuki wasn’t a bad driver, in fact he was one of the most careful drivers in the band (because he was one of the two that actually had a license). He followed the law, always making sure he was going the speed limit and nothing above it, and he made sure everyone was wearing a seatbelt, he followed the signs and paid attention to other drivers and pedestrians, and for the most part, he was a boring, unadventurous driver.
Mizuki’s car, however, was a completely different story. It wasn’t an old car, but it also wasn’t new. It was a pain in the ass, to be frank, and anyone who got in was instantly nervous because something was always going wrong. Mizuki didn’t mind too much because he liked his car and all its small quirks (that were actually very large, in Aki’s opinion). When the car would break down in the middle of a busy road, Mizuki would giggle loudly and motion for other drivers to go around him while he called for help, all the while stating that there was ‘nothing wrong’ with his car that couldn’t be fixed by himself or his father, when in reality, nothing ever got fixed and more was damaged.
After accompanying Mizuki for so long, Aki no longer became nervous when the car sputtered and died. He simply looked over at a giggling Mizuki and waited patiently while someone came to pick them up. It wasn’t a big deal to him because they were never far from help, but today was the exception. Today they were driving mindlessly around the country roads in the middle of a blistering hot summer day.
Aki sighed softly, looking out the window as the wind blew through his hair and warmth hit his face in an uncomfortable way. They had been driving for an hour with the radio playing and Mizuki talking about the events of the previous night, events that included a drunk Tatsurou and devious Kenzo; events that were completely unacceptable to a sane mind. “I bet Yukke would never find out.” Mizuki looked over with his signature grin, completely convinced that the MUCC bassist would be oblivious to a wild rabbit in his apartment, one that Tatsurou had found at the park and Kenzo wanted to prank someone with.
“Somehow I doubt that.” Aki looked over with a smirk; if Yukke asked him if he knew anything, he would, without a doubt, rat out the three Karasu members. “You really think he’d be oblivious to a wild animal running around? He may be made to look stupid from time to time, but that doesn’t mean he actually is.”
Mizuki made a noise akin to a snort and waved his hand in the air, stating that Yukke would never figure it out because his bangs hang too low in his face and therefore hinders his vision, thus he will never notice.
And Aki just let the guitarist win the argument to save himself the headache.
As they drove in silence, save for the random rock song playing on the radio and Mizuki singing along on occasion, the car made noises and smelled of oil, a sign that, eventually, it would laugh it’s ass off at them while it broke down. Usually Mizuki would pull off to the side and let the car cool down before continuing, but as Aki asked him if he intended to, Mizuki shrugged and said “if it breaks down out here, it wouldn’t be bothersome.”
‘Breaking down in the middle of nowhere would be bothersome.‘ Aki rolled his eyes and turned his attention to the road ahead of them because there was no use in trying to make Mizuki listen when it came to matters outside of the band; Mizuki simply wouldn’t listen.
But as they descended down the road and the smell of oil became stronger and the noises grew stranger, Mizuki knew he should have just pulled off to the side; it wouldn’t have been any trouble since Aki was there with him.
And when the car broke down, all Aki did was laugh under his breath and mutter a ‘I told you so’ as he got out to help Mizuki look under the hood.
“I say this with love,” Aki reached down and grabbed the transmission’s dipstick and peered at it.
Mizuki grinned, bumping into Aki‘s hip with a giggle, “You love me?”
“Don’t push it.” The bassist rolled his eyes and put the dipstick back. “As I was saying, you’re an idiot.” When the dipstick was put in place again and he stood up straight to look around, he quickly turned back around to Mizuki and slapped him over the head.
“Isn’t that kind of a late response to my not listening to you?” Mizuki grumbled. He should have stopped and let the car cool down, but that would mean they would have to sit in a hot car with the sun beating down on them. It didn’t occur to him that they’d be put in the same situation when the car actually did break down.
“That’s not why I’m hitting you.” Aki all but yelled with his arms flailing around, “Do you even realize that we’re in the middle of train tracks? What happens if a damn train comes and kills us? Who is even going to find us? We‘re in the middle of nowhere!”
Realization smacked Mizuki right in the face as he ran to the driver side window and grabbed his phone from the dashboard. It would probably just be a good idea to call for help before anything bad happened.
But luck just wasn’t on their side, nor was it ever. That was something Aki came to realize early on in the band: when he was alone with Mizuki, they had the worst of luck. If something could go wrong, it would.
“My phone is dead.” Mizuki tilted his head back dramatically, letting out a frustrated sigh because his phone had half a battery when he drove to Aki’s house.
Down the track they heard a train, but the sound was still faint. “Maybe it’s cooled down enough.” Mizuki shrugged as he opened the driver’s door and turned the key. The car started for a moment, spluttered, and died on the spot. With a nervous giggle, he tried again and again, only to get the same response. He cursed loudly to himself as the train grew closer and closer to the point he could see it all the way down the track. Fear began rising as he continuously tried to get the car to start and at least move off the track.
“Mizuki, get out of the damn car before you get killed.” Aki yelled, and Mizuki, as stubborn as ever, held up a finger. Aki cursed to himself, and even though he was terrified of getting hit by a train and dying, he knew he would have to be the one to pull Mizuki out of the car before he got hit. In the worst case scenario, they’d both get killed. It wasn’t a thought Aki was flattered with, but he couldn’t let Mizuki get hurt.
He didn’t even notice he had moved until his hand was wrapped around Mizuki’s arm in a death grip. The train was getting closer, and the tracks were vibrating under their feet. Aki stole a glance behind him, and the train was approaching quickly. The whistle was blowing, and he knew from television that it wasn’t easy for a train to stop from hitting something or someone.
Aki growled angrily as he yanked the guitarist out of the car with all the strength he could muster. The train got closer and closer, and without a second thought, he threw Mizuki as far as he could and jumped after him, landing on Mizuki to protect him from any scrap metal flying in their direction.
Aki closed his eyes and cringed as the sound of crushing metal reached his ears, and he pictured the car being crushed in his head and swallowed hard. Just from the sound of it, that train was going faster than he originally thought. He tightened his arms around Mizuki and hid his face against the guitarist’s neck. He could faintly hear Mizuki whimper against the sound of the train and held him tighter until the train disappeared.
“You idiot.” Aki muttered against Mizuki’s neck with his eyes closed tightly, “You almost got us killed.” He rolled off the guitarist and laid on the ground on his back.
Mizuki pushed himself up into a sitting position and tilted his head to the side. His car wasn’t even a car anymore, it was just a bunch of metal scattered in different directions. He ran a hand through his hair and let out a sigh, “Y’know,” he looked over at Aki, “I could have put it in neutral and pushed it.” It would have been a million times easier than trying to get the car to start, and if he would have just thought about it in the first place, he would have been able to drive home eventually. Now he had no car and would have to buy a new one, which he really didn't want to do but had to.
He wasn’t surprised when Aki slapped him on the back of the head again and crossed his arms over his chest in disappointment. “Now you think of that?” They almost got killed, and Mizuki thinks of a way to get the car off the track after it gets destroyed? Somehow he wasn’t surprised by Mizuki’s delayed thinking process.
Mizuki giggled, falling onto his back and looking up at the sky. “Don’t give me that. I was panicking and didn’t think of it. You didn’t think of it either.”
Aki stayed on his back as well and stared up at the sky, trying to think of a way to get themselves home. He had his phone with him, but he was almost positive that he wouldn’t have service in the middle of nowhere. The only option they really had was to walk, but that didn’t seem like something he really wanted to do at the moment, but he had no choice.
If he had service, he would just have to call Mao. Mao was a terrible driver, though, and his sense of direction was horrible. The only thing they would accomplish would be getting the vocalist lost. Aside from Mao, the only other person he could think of was Tatsurou, but even a baby knew better than to ask that dork for help. He would just make fun of them the entire time, then Kenzo would hear all about their situation and make it ten times worse than it needed to be.
As he mentally sorted through his phone’s contacts, he remembered he had the numbers of all the guys of Screw. Kazuki definitely wasn’t an option because he was immature and was always trying to get in Mizuki’s pants, and Aki didn’t really care to sit there while Kazuki tried to seduce the other guitarist. Rui was also out because he would decide to bring Kazuki along with him anyways for shits and giggles. Manabu was probably too busy reading a book and being boring (something that was one hundred percent absolutely true). Jin wasn’t reliable enough to actually get them, so that just left Byou.
Mizuki burst out laughing suddenly, causing Aki to jump and turn on his side just to hit Mizuki on the chest. “Don’t do that. You scared the hell out of me.”
The guitarist’s laughs turned into gasps for breaths as he clapped his hands like a retarded seal. “Do you realize,” he giggled, covering his eyes, “how hilarious this is?”
Aki smirked and sat up.
“Of all the stupid things that could happen to us,” Mizuki leaned back on his elbows, “we almost got hit by a train and my car is now destroyed. When does that ever really happen? I mean, other than on television and stuff, but really? Who is dumb enough to actually get back in the car?”
“You.” Aki pointed out with a raised eyebrow while he fished around in his pocket for his phone. For a moment he panicked, thinking he had left it in the car and they really would be stranded. He let out a sigh of relief as he pulled it out and checked to see if there was any service. Luckily he had one bar. It was weak, but he would have to work with it if they wanted to get a ride.
“You’re telling me you had your phone the entire time?” Mizuki stood up and brushed his pants off. “And I went to get mine out of the car? You could have said you had yours.”
“You would have wanted yours anyways. What would you do if you couldn’t post pictures of yourself on your blog?” The last thing anyone in Sadie wanted was to listen to Mizuki complain because he didn’t have his phone to take pictures of himself and how he was too lazy to go buy a new one and ‘Kei~ go buy a new phone for me’. “Anyways, I’ll try to call Byou and see if he’s too busy to get us.”
“You could always call-”
“I’m not calling Tatsurou or Kazuki so shut up.” Aki shot the guitarist a look and searched through his contacts for Byou’s number. Mizuki had caused enough damage for the day, he didn’t want to endure the antics of another immature pinhead.
“I was going to say you could call Takeru, but whatever.”
‘Yet another immature pinhead.‘ Aki thought to himself and lowered his phone from his face so he could see Mizuki properly. “And watch him try to crazy glue your car back together? I’d rather not.” And what was worse than an ordinary pinhead was a SuG pinhead. Takeru was a ball of pure energy, and that definitely wasn’t needed. He’d just stick to Byou because at least he was laid back and not annoying. Besides, being stuck in a car with Takeru and Mizuki would cause Aki to open the door and roll out.
“You’re so mean today, Aki.”
Aki rolled his eyes and called Byou who told them he would be on his way as soon as he finished up a few errands. It took a few attempts to actually get a hold of the Screw vocalist due to service issues, and when he finally did get to talk to him he spoke quickly just in case the call dropped. Luckily Byou understood what he had said and where they were so Aki could stop worrying.
He laid on his back again and rested his head on his arms. It was beginning to get hotter, but he couldn't find it in him to actually care.
“Usually you talk more when it’s just the two of us.” Mizuki pouted, standing over Aki with his hands in his pockets.
“Usually I have something to say.” Aki shrugged his shoulders, closing his eyes and sighing slightly. At least the stressful part of the day was over.
Mizuki plopped himself down next to Aki and held out his hand, “Give me your phone.” He wiggled his fingers when the bassist opened his eyes with a questioning look.
“No.” Aki closed his eyes again and remained silent.
Mizuki, on the other hand, wanted someone to talk to and decided to just take Aki’s phone. He quietly crept over as if he were a child trying to get something they wanted but couldn’t have. When he was close to Aki, he reached over and slid his hand into Aki’s pocket and grinned.
“Get your hand out of my pocket if you want to keep it.”
“I just want to call Kei. No, Tsurugi. No, Tat-”
Aki slapped the guitarist’s hand away and shook his head, “You can call Kei or Tsurugi, but don’t you dare call Tatsurou and make us look like bigger idiots than we already are.”
Mizuki giggled and put his hand back in Aki’s pocket, “Someone doesn’t like Tatsurou.” He snorted.
“It’s not that I don’t like him. He’s immature, like you, except to a bigger extreme.” Aki sighed in frustration. “Get your hand out of my fucking pocket.”
“Give me your phone and I’ll do it.” Mizuki stuck his tongue out.
“How can I give you my phone if your hand is in my pocket, preventing me from getting it?” The bassist sat up with a glare. Unfortunately for Mizuki, the new position was making his hand hurt; Aki’s pants were already tight, and now that he was sitting up, his pants were even tighter. Mizuki was almost positive that he would lose all feeling in his hand if Aki didn’t move.
“How am I supposed to take my hand out of your pocket so you can give it to me if you’re sitting and my hand is stuck?”
Aki sighed and laid back again so Mizuki could move his hand, except he didn’t move his hand and Aki was getting annoyed. He grabbed Mizuki’s wrist and forced his hand out of his pocket before sitting up again.
“You’re not getting my phone.” He stood up and wiped the dirt off his pants and shirt before walking through the grass toward a tree. It was getting hotter, and he really didn't want to sit in the sun anymore, and it would be easier to relax if he wasn't lying in the middle of the road.
“But you said I could call Kei or Tsurugi!” Mizuki jumped up and followed along. He was going to get that phone if it was the last thing he did.
“That was before you refused to take your hand out of my damn pocket.” Aki looked back just in time to move before Mizuki plowed into him. “Quit being immature.”
“It’s not my fault my hand didn’t want to leave your pocket. It’s also not my fault I’m mildly immature.” The guitarist pouted slightly. He looped his arm with Aki’s and giggled because he knew Aki wasn’t in the mood for his antics. It wasn't out of the ordinary for Mizuki to annoy Aki, in fact most cases ended with Aki stomping out of the room and hiding somewhere in the company building. Given the fact they were out in the middle of nowhere, Aki couldn't run off and be alone because Mizuki would follow him the entire time.
This little car-getting-hit-by-train incident could be beneficial to Mizuki. He could be as annoying as he wanted, and Aki would have to stay by his side because he gave Byou their location. If he wandered off he'd be stranded. Aki didn't even really know where they were or how to get home; he only knew the road because they passed a sign earlier down the road. Mizuki knew Aki didn't pay attention to the directions as he drove, so he really wasn't worried about Aki trying to run away from him.
He grinned as he fell back behind Aki a bit. He could do anything he wanted, and Aki would have to put up with it despite how pissed off he got. As Aki got closer to the tree, Mizuki giggled to himself and ran toward the bassist, jumping on him from behind, sending them both to the ground with an agitated yell from Aki. Mizuki, however, sat on Aki's back and grinned in victory for successfully completely phase one of annoying the bassist.
"Get your ass off me." Aki grumbled, and Mizuki giggled and shook his head childishly even though Aki was face-down in the grass.
"Get your body out from under my ass." Mizuki snorted in reply and wiggled to further anger his friend.
Aki clenched his hands into fists. All he wanted to do was relax while he waited for Byou, but it was clear that Mizuki wasn't going to let that happen. He unclenched his hands and gripped the ground, turning his body under the guitarist's weight and successfully flipped them over. If Mizuki wanted to play childish games by being too close to Aki, the least he could do was stay on the bottom. Aki didn't bottom.
"Geeze, when I said 'get your body out from under my ass', I didn't mean put your body above my ass. Unless you have other ideas for passing the time, then by all means-" Mizuki winced and rubbed his forehead as Aki slapped him yet again.
"We're not doing what you're hinting at. We are going to sit here and wait for Byou, and you're going to act your age because when we get back, I'm going to put you through hell and back."
Mizuki held his hands up and wiggled his fingers, "Oooh, how threatening."
“Mizuki,” Aki grumbled, moving to sit against the tree with his arm draped over his head. “could you at least attempt to act your age for an hour? Between the heat and your stupidity, I’m not feeling too great.” He let out a sigh as Mizuki sat beside him with his arms crossed over his chest in a childlike fashion.
“Fine.” The guitarist pouted. “You’re no fun. At least give me your phone if you’re going to be boring.”
Aki rolled his eyes, “You are not getting my phone.“
An hour later Aki and Mizuki found themselves in Byou’s car as the Screw vocalist looked at them as if they were stupid. Unlike what Tatsurou would have done, Byou simply kept his mouth shut about the situation until Mizuki brought it up. Byou wasn’t the kind of guy to pick on people outside of his band even if they were friends. When it came to the guys of Sadie he showed his more laidback side, but that was mostly for Aki’s sake since he didn’t like the outlandish type too much.
The car ride to town took about an hour, which wouldn’t have been so obnoxious if it weren’t for the fact Mizuki didn’t shut up once the entire time. He talked about video games and movies and anime and this super cool guitar he saw at the music store but didn’t have the money with him to buy and how his day wasn‘t so great because Aki was being mean. All the while he spoke, Aki sat silently and stared out the window with his phone clutched between his fingers.
“--and can you believe he wouldn’t even let me use his phone? Look at the grip he has on that thing. What kind of guy is this?” Mizuki sat back in his seat and sighed dramatically. “You ask to call and friend and he shoves you to the ground and sits on you.”
“You jumped on me and sat on me, you idiot.” Aki spoke bitterly, running his fingers through his hair.
“Don’t listen to him, Byou, he’s a liar.” Mizuki waved a hand in the air. “He’s been abusing me all day.”
Byou glanced over at the bassist beside him and quirked his lips to the side. “Looks to me like he had reason to.” He motioned to Aki with his thumb, “What did you do to him? He’s usually not so pissed off and ran down.”
“Denied him access to my body~” Mizuki giggled, fluttering his hands over his body in a showy motion.
“I denied you access to my body, you imbecile.” Aki rolled his eyes, sinking further into his seat and looking over at Byou. “Does Screw want a third guitarist? I’m sure Kazuki would be flattered to have Mizuki around to molest as he pleases.”
Byou snorted and stopped at a red light. “If I do recall correctly, I believe you told him to keep his hands off Mizuki or you’d kick his ass.”
Mizuki’s eyes lit up as he leaned forward, “Ooooh~ when did this happen?” He knew the Screw guitarist annoyed Aki when it came to Kazuki flirting with him. Mizuki always assumed Kazuki was being playful, so he never thought twice about it. Kazuki was known for being a pervert, and Aki wasn’t the type to be thrilled by watching his bandmates getting touched inappropriately.
“Shut up, Byou.” Aki snapped, turning his attention to the scenery out the window. Maybe he did threaten Kazuki, but that was because he was tired of seeing Mizuki with another man’s hands on him. It didn’t go further than that, right? At least that’s what he told himself.
Byou laughed and turned at an intersection before glancing at Mizuki. “The last time both of our bands were hanging out.” He smirked as Aki’s eyebrows knitted in irritation. “Aki and I both went out to smoke and he was pissed. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so pissed off before.”
Mizuki giggled loudly and clapped his hands. “Aki-chan~ That’s so cute. You must really love me or something.”
Aki rolled his eyes and snorted. “I do not. It’s inappropriate to constantly be touching someone like that.” He muttered and crossed his arms over his chest. “Why do you have to make it out to seem like it goes deeper than that?”
“Because I bet it does~” Mizuki giggled more, reaching up to pat Aki on the head childishly. “Does Leader-sama love his guitarist?”
Byou snorted as he focused on the road, “I should have kept my mouth shut.”
Aki kept quiet and crossed one leg over the other as he simply ignored the other two occupants of the car. It was pointless to try to defend himself against Mizuki, especially since Mizuki was already certain Aki liked him.
The rest of the car ride was annoying and filled with senseless giggling and pokes to Aki’s shoulder. The bassist was glad when they finally pulled up in front of his apartment complex and he was able to get away from the teasing. With a muttered goodbye and a thank you to Byou, he opened the door and made his way into the building and to the elevator.
He sighed and hit the button for the sixth floor and leaned against the wall. He didn’t have feelings for Mizuki, right? Of course not; he was just being a good leader and friend by protecting the other man. If it was Tsurugi, Mao, or Kei, he would have done the same thing, right? Mizuki was no different, well he was in the sense that he was an idiot and Aki didn’t know why he continued to spend time with him outside of work if he just became annoyed.
The elevator came to a stop and the doors slid open. He walked out and reached in his pocket for his keys, jingling them absentmindedly as he approached his door and inserted the key. Mizuki and Byou were just being stupid as always. He nodded to himself and pushed open the door, shutting it behind him and taking off his shoes. There was no other explanation for anything.
With a sigh, he placed his keys on the table beside the door and made his way toward his room, plopping himself down on his bed. The sun had began to set as he closed his eyes and nuzzled his pillow. Just as he began dozing off, his phone began ringing. With a sigh he reached into his pocket and held it to his ear, muttering a soft ‘Moshi moshi….’ before Mizuki began speaking just as tiredly.
“I didn’t wake you, did I?”
Aki muffled a yawn and closed his eyes, holding the phone loosely. “Kind of, but it’s fine. I shouldn’t go to sleep yet anyways.” He at least needed to get a shower before going to sleep. All the sweat from sitting in the sun was disgusting.
“Oh.” Mizuki paused for a moment before speaking again. “I’m sorry for annoying you today. Given the situation, I should have been more civil instead of acting like an annoying idiot.” He paused again, and from knowing him so long, Aki knew he was chewing on his piercing while he thought of what to say. “And thank you for saving me. You didn’t have to put yourself in danger by pulling me off the tracks, so thank you.”
“I wasn’t going to let you get hit by a train.” Aki muttered, nuzzling his pillow again and shifting into a more comfortable position. He could have let Mizuki move off the tracks himself, but he knew how stubborn the guitarist could be about his car and wanting it to start. If he wouldn’t have grabbed Mizuki when he did, the train would have killed him. It wasn’t a thought he wanted to elaborate on either.
“I know, but you could have gotten hit if you weren’t quick enough.” Mizuki’s voice sounded tired, almost as if he too were lying in bed half asleep. Aki smiled at the mental image and opened his eyes.
“And if that would have happened, at least we would have gone together.” He mentally smacked himself as the words fell from his lips, knowing well that Mizuki would eventually poke fun at him for it.
Mizuki chuckled on the other end. “Oh, aren’t you romantic, Aki.”
Aki rolled his eyes and closed them again. “I don’t think the idea of dying alone is too glamorous.”
“More like dying with me sounds better than living without me, y’know, since you love me so much.” Mizuki giggled. Aki could hear the sound of sheets rustling as Mizuki turned over. “I’m just kidding. I know you only did it because you’re a good friend and wouldn’t want anyone to get hurt.”
Aki nodded to himself even though he knew he was completely wrong. He didn’t just grab Mizuki because he was being a good friend and he knew it. As much as he tried to deny it, there was that tiny part of him that had feelings for the obnoxious guitarist. If he didn’t have feelings for Mizuki, then why did he continuously put up with his antics? Why did he threaten Kazuki? Why did he try to keep him out of Harm's way?
He sighed to himself as he thought and slid his free hand under his pillow. Mizuki’s voice once more filled his ear as he laid silently. “You didn’t fall asleep did you?” The guitarist sounded more amused than anything.
“I didn’t do it because I’m a good friend and didn’t want anyone to get hurt.” He muttered, burying his face in his pillow. “You were right.”
“I can’t understand you.” Mizuki yawned. "Your voice is muffled."
Aki rolled over on his back and sighed. “I said you were right, but you better not rub it in.” He sighed as the other man grew silent. He stared up at the ceiling and counted the tiles absentmindedly as he waited for Mizuki to say something.
“So you’re telling me I was chasing you around this entire time, and you already liked me?” There was an apparent pout in Mizuki’s voice that made Aki chuckle. “I thought I was chasing wind, and you already liked me?!”
“To be fair, you didn’t exactly ask me if I liked you in a non-teasing manner.” Aki chuckled, placing his free hand on his stomach. “So it wasn’t my fault you felt like you were chasing wind.”
“You could have dropped some hints or something.”
“Not my thing.” Aki shrugged.
Mizuki sighed. “A wink would have worked.”
Aki rolled his eyes. “Not the expressive type.”
“You’re difficult, you know that?” Mizuki let out a long dramatic sigh as he once again shifted around on his bed. “But I suppose I can’t say anything since I’m difficult on the other end on the spectrum.”
“More like you’re an annoying pain in the ass that does nothing but giggle and end up in bad situations.” Aki chuckled, “But I don’t mind as much as everyone thinks.” At least spending time with Mizuki was always guaranteed to be interesting and amusing to some degree. It was funny to watch some of the stupid situations the guitarist managed to put himself in without realizing it or meaning to.
The conversation died down as Mizuki chewed on his lip ring once more and Aki closed his eyes against the silence. There was no rush to finish the conversation because even though they hadn't said what was on the tip of their tongues, they both knew. The small confirmation of Aki's feelings and the admission of Mizuki's was enough for them to know that maybe it was okay to give it a shot despite how annoyed one could become by the other.
"Y'know," Mizuki spoke up after a few moments, fingers playing with the ring through his bottom lip as he looked up at the ceiling above him, "for once I'm glad my car gave me problems. If it hadn't, you never would have been able to save me from the train and somehow make yourself realize your feelings for me. It was the train that made you realize it, right?"
Aki tilted his head to the side slightly and thought because even though he had threatened Kazuki in the past for touching Mizuki, it wasn't until the guitarist was in danger that he actually opened his eyes. If he would have had something else to do, something to prevent him from ever getting in Mizuki's car, he never would have realized that he did in fact like the guitarist. He turned over again and raked a hand through his hair, sighing softly. "You could say that."
Mizuki smiled softly, clutching the phone, "So I guess I should be glad that I'm car-less and owe you."
A/N: This is just something I worked on on and off during the summer. It was originally supposed to contain Remming, but as I was sitting outside thinking of the plot and the characters, I realized it would fit Sadie more and instead decided to turn it into another Aki/Mizuki fic.
Before anyone says anything, no I don't have anything against Tatsurou, Kenzo, Kazuki, or Takeru (or any of their bands). They're just the easiest people associated to Aki in one way or another (I think he's associated with Takeru, but if not he can be associated by Screw) who were able to be thrown in, all of which have annoying sides to them as well as professional; Aki, however, only acknowledges the annoying aspects.
It doesn't feel finished in the least bit, but I can't think of a way to conclude it without it becoming even more cliche [i.e. the typical 'I like you, you like me, let's date' ending that most fan fictions tend to include; one that is more than likely completely unrealistic].
