queenmabwords post about Uma Thurman's necklace got me thinking about the movie she is promoting. My Super Ex-Girlfriend. Generally, I don't like to downtalk people or things. And really, I'm not very picky about silly movies. I like them. And I like Uma Thurman a heck of a lot too. But the theme/plot of this movie is seriously repugnant to me. I thought it looked like a lot of fun. But I can see how it would be offensive.

I think it's going to be very silly, but I didn't have quite the same reaction you did. I completely understand your not wanting to see it, though I'm also curious how much they're playing up that aspect of Uma's charater in the trailer, and if she's really that dominating. . .

MY complaint is that it looks like another woman-goes-psycho-over-breakup movie that reinforces some dismal stereotypes about jilted women and clueless men. It may be that it is making fun of these, but it doesn't really look like it in the trailer. . . . Rather, it seems to just emulate some of the worst aspects of this kind of film to make it "funny;" we get to guffaw at the superwoman who still can't handle being dumped, and sympathize with the powerless male who innocently left her. . . . Gag.
