I think I have used the term "Exodus" a couple of times already

I have been dreaming about... moving to Japan. Because I am a weeb.

There are a lot of things I feel that I like about Japan and Japanese culture in general, and this has appealed to me. I do my best not to be blinded by how Animé portrays the Japanese world. For example, probably my latest source regarding Japanese culture has been the videos of Nobita From Japan. He does have videos of both the good and bad things about Japan, so that does help me try to think objectively and rationally.

Here are some of the reasons why I would like to think that moving to Japan would be a good idea.
  • Their kindness - I know that there will be exemptions. But I do view Japanese people as very kind, and even very helpful. This "very helpful" part of them will probably be useful especially in the early stages of my hypothetical move to Japan.

  • Their food - Japanese food is really good. Their rice is really good. I remember when my family and I went to Japan, I spent probably the first three days eating curry rice for lunch. Everything else was tasty too. Maybe pizza isn't too popular in Japan, but I'm sure it exists somewhere there.

  • Japan is a safe place, in general - Initially in my life, I thought to myself that I have no intentions of leaving the Philippines because I proclaimed myself as one of the people who do contribute to society (I know, I know, what a joke.) Then when the thought of raising a family came to mind, I said to myself... "No, the Philippines is unsafe, and I do not want my children to live in a society where they could be in danger by just being outside the house.
Here are some of the reasons for my apprehension:
  • I need to learn Japanese - I know it will take a while to reach even a basic and decent level where I can converse and sufficiently communicate with people. I also hear that non-native Japanese speakers study for about 10 years before they reach some kind of near-native Japanese speaking levels.

  • The Japanese do not necessarily "like" Asian foreigners (they do like Western foreigners) - I... think it has something to do with... since we kind of "look" Japanese, there is this expectation that we are supposed to have understood how to be integrated in Japanese culture already? And speaking of Japanese culture...

  • They are my kind of people, but I might not be their kind of... people - Not just the fact that Filipino culture is different from Japanese culture, but Japan is notorious for having so many social rules and norms. Even something as basic as using honorifics like -san, -chan, -kun, -senpai... There are so many rules. And screwing it up is potentially dangerous, especially in a work environment. Speaking of work environments...

  • Oppressive work environment Another thing that Japan is notorious for is that the Japanese usually work for extensive hours. I mean... currently I am thankful that the time I spend working rarely exceeds the bounds of my work hours, so this is very scary for me. Also, I also heard that excessive work hours also hamper relationships within families, particularly when the husband spends too much time out of home, and the wife is stuck at home just tending the household.
............

I mentioned in my previous entry that I wanted to make sure that my desire to live in Japan is not coming from a misguided impression of Japan.

Something else I have make sure is... Exacerbated by the fact that I am only one of thousands (millions?) of her fans/simps, I have to make sure that I am not blinded by any and all delusions of marrying the "S-tier weather reporter waifu" Saya Hiyama.
