Things are looking up for your humble narrator right now. Although I am in terrible need of stronger contacts and a few more hours in the day....
Matthew and I will have been together for a year next Thursday. Despite my efforts to find some incredible gift that is worthy of the occasion, I have nothing. I made him something I think will be of significance, something I know he was interested in having... I found a nearly perfect card, and the search still continues for something else. I doubt I will find anything. He's totally going to "beat me" this occasion. I can live with that.
I have, of course, started my first semester at Hillsborough. All is well so far. English and Western Civ should be a pleasant peice of cake, while Spanish may or may not prove to be difficult, because of the pace. Algebra might actually be manageble, as long as I can stay on top of the homework. With violin, it's too soon to really say. Devoting the time to it that I need to will be the challange, when it falls last on my list of studying priorities, mainly because I'm recieving no grade. The main point here: I'm a procrastinating, excuse-making quitter, and I refuse to let my tendancies keep me from doing the stuff I want to do.
I drive my own damn self to school and such other essential things (library, tattoo parlor, ect.) and thus I am a lot more confident in my driving abilities. Always room for improvement, of course. A very big personal accomplishment, although I know it seems ridiculous to you guys.
I have found myself encouraged to try to help start a Secular Student Alliance, which would likely never get affliliation with the school or be allowed to meet on campus, but could hopefully at least distribute flyers and use the builetin boards the way the Christian groups are allowed. It's still just an idea... it would be tons of work, and it would probably be Spring term before it started to go anywhere, as I obviously couldn't do it on my own and it would take some time to sort out.
I met someone cool in my neighborhood... she lives right across the street, named Kelly... At the moment I met her she was in her garage, in the process of building a life-size Jack Skellington. Every year she does an elaborate haunted house thing in her garage that gets lots of turn-out, and she's looking for more help with it. Something to actually DO for Halloween for the first time since I was 12. Hell yeah.
And.... well, that's all that comes to mind at the moment.
Until next time, folks...
