AS SEEN DURING A C-2 BUS RIDE

As I rode the C-2 bus back to East Campus, I saw something that I hoped to achieve one day in the future. A couple, probably in their 50s, sat at the very back of the bus, holding hands. Their wedding bands caught the light and gave a slight twinkle with each bump of the bus. They were chatting quietly, but their body language spoke volumes. She looked at her husband in such a way that one could not doubt the love they had. He whispered something into her ear and she laughed; her laugh was easy-going and light and seemed to hang in the air, lingering in an aura that enveloped them. They were in a world all their own, one in which they shared smiles, memories, lives, and a love. When their stop came, they walked hand and hand off. When I looked out of the window, I saw them walk away on a path dimly lit only by the moon, arms around each other's waist. As the bus pulled away, I saw them stop. He leaned down and even in the growing darkness, I could see their dark outlines merged as one in a kiss...

I want that. I want that loving look. I want that everlasting passion. I want him.
