Alright, to follow up on my previous entry... I feel the need to discuss some Animal Testing as that seems to be big now...
A lot of people have been talking to me about Animal Testing over the years and most of them say it needs to be stopped. I'd say a good 2/3 of the population believe animal testing is wrong... I don't know why.
Here are some things that have been brought about through animal Testing (just some of the major things... it's brought a lot more than this):
Vaccines
Anthrax
Chicken Pox
Cholera
Diphtheria
Flu
Influenza B
Hepatitis A and B
Measles
Mumps
Polio
Rabies
Rubella
Smallpox
Tetanus
Whooping Cough
Yellow Fever
Medications
Insulin
Penicillin
Streptomycin
Anti-inflammatory Drugs
Pain Killers
Anticoagulants
Chemotherapy
Cyctosporine
Devices
Pacemakers
Artificial Heart
Artificial Hip
Artificial Knee
Procedures
Angioplasty
Organ Transplantation
Heart Transplantation
Kidney Transplantation
Liver Transplantation
Corneal Transplantation
Millions of People are alive today that wouldn't be if it weren't for Animal Testing. The fact is, that more than likely the cure for AIDS, Cancer, Herpes, and other such diseases are Almost Certainly going to be found through Animal Testing.
Sure animals aren't all going to live out and free... but the fact of the matter is... if it were up to me, I'd kill a hundred rabbits, monkeys, etc. if I could find the cure for AIDS through doing it.
Now, there is a myth that the conditions of animal testing facilities are bad for the animals. This is not true. Animal Testing Facilities need each of their animals to be completely healthy in order to ensure successful results from them. This means those pictures you see from PETA... most aren't taken in actual conducting labs. Many are taken in shut down labs by PETA a week after they've been shut down, when the animals aren't looking their best because they haven't been fed or cleaned... Or... the alternative is to fire bomb a lab, and then get some pictures if you see animals still in there. Which Rob Coronado has been known to do and advocate in the past.
I hope people are a little more educated now...
