Last weekend’s entry, haha!

I can’t believe I can manage to remember things from last week; 42 picture story found

Friday: So I went home, ate, then in the evening, I got a ride from Kenneth Chan’s mommy to go to church. There was a special performance at church, with a dinner at 6pm. A woman played a two-stringed intrument known as the Erhu. But before eating, I stopped by the back of the church to find the guys playing basketball with other residents in the area. Lol, the CBC boys were defeated by the other boys, hehe…maybe because nearly all the CBC boys were wearing sandals and not tennis shoes? =P

This one kid walked around, acting like a distraction, haha… He found that water thingy and spilled his water on it, and threw ice. Hmm, the eye is watching. =0

Mmm, some good food!! I accidentally picked up two boxes worth thinking that the small box was dessert. Turned out that it was just a smaller portion to eat; oh well, ate both, lol. =)

Picked a seat in the back (only ones available, lol); or maybe I just didn’t want to be noticed. Lol, Patricia and I were totally not understanding the speech/talk given by the performer. We were like, “Uh..I think she said something about playing when she was a child, lol.”

The performance was really kool, in my opinion. She had some videos to go along with her performance. Jim noted it being “totally random”, haha… “with all those pictures, it looks like she died” =P

Afterward, there was Friday fellowship, which ended up bringing much concern for the youth (particularly the boys). The topic dealt with playing cards in the church? Should it be allowed and if so, when and where? Uncle Cookie led that night, and it seemed as though it was conservative/traditional vs. liberals. I think the main message that came from it was this: do not play cards in times of service, Sunday school, or bible study. But really, it’s not too difficult to meet at someone’s house to play. =/

When fellowship was over, many of us decided to drive to Bo’s house to play a good amount of Texas Hold ‘Em games. =)

Due to Bo’s trash talk and not allowing any girls (Mary, Jessica, Winnie) to win, the Jesuit boys (Bo, Jim, me) were the first to go (starting with me), lol…=P

Thanks to Bo’s mommy for making a couple plates of yummy oranges…mmm.

Jessica and Winnie ended up kicking butt; Jessica had a lot of luck for her first time playing. So not fair since “Winnie” has “win” in her name. Lol, should be called “Losenie” haha…ok, maybe not.

Headed home, and got ready for a long day at the Hilton Hotel Riverside for the 25th annual APAS Gala. Saturday morning, I went to the new house with my dad to quickly mow the lawn. Then, I headed home to take a shower, and got picked up by Zack, where we headed to the hotel for 2pm to help set up. We parked in the hotel’s garage for a couple hours and it was $7! Dang, rip off. =/

The hallway on the third floor.

The big statue that greeted us at the bottom of the escalator.

The big corridor where people could sign in. Events were happening on both sides; I can’t believe the hotel let people smoke in here, eek.

The room was pretty huge; 50 tables were set up. [Silent] Auction item tables were aligned in the back. During the Gala, people can just go back there, and start bidding on items by writing their names/bids on the papers infront of the item.

The adjacent room next to it was HUGE! It’d be a perfect place to have a Semi-formal. I found myself going here a couple times to recharge my phone, lol…

All the flowers that were supposed to go on each of the tables-very pretty. =)

The coveted cover of the program; these are definitely keepers, hehe.

After setting up the tables, Richard, Zack, and I decided to get something to eat, since the youth wasn’t supposed to get there till 4:30pm and the Gala started at 6:30pm. McDonalds on St. Charles was the place to be.

When I entered, I saw this. Wow…Helloy Kitty? McDonalds? Interesting…

Hello Kitty? GI JOE? Lol…two opposite spectrums (good advertisement though).

For the first time, I got to try the OREO McFlurry. Mmm…good stuff…although I think I prefer the M&M’s. *craving another one*

When we finished eating, Zack dropped Richard to his car, and then we took Rich’s car spot. It was a pretty long distance from the Hilton but at least we didn’t have to pay anything. So Zack and I decided to visit the Riverwalk, which I haven’t gone since maybe Middle school. Not much has changed though, just new stores.

Interesting how the China retailer is being run, by a white guy, lol. =P Somehow, I felt like I was the only asian walking that day, hehe…=P

The fudgery. They sing and make delicious fudge. They’ve been there probably since the Riverwalk opened. =0

Walking further down, Zack and I stumbled upon a kiask that sold those videos games in a controller units. It had like 180 games in one controller, so I played a few and then Zack played Mario. He drew a crowd, haha…and that’s probably why the clerk gave us a $10 discount (off of $50). Lol, still, I wouldn’t buy it. We happened to meet up with Mike, who was at Electronic Boutique, buying Fable for Kevin.

The most anticipated game of the year…Halo 2. Eh? My Halo days are up.

We ended up walking out from the other side and walked all the way back to Zack’s car to pick up our clothes. This statue along the way there, gets kool points for showing his peace sign, lol…gosh, it was hot that day…

On the way back to the hotel, I saw this sign. Uh…ok?

Zack and I went to go change in the bathroom, and then the unthinkable happened. I forgot my dress pants and the jacket to go with it! Instead, I had my blue Jesuit blazer and light cargos as pants; thank goodness I was wearing pants already. It didn’t look too bad I guess, but still, it wasn’t as appropriate, hehe…Mike didn’t wear any coat and tie so I didn’t fell entirely left out. =) We met up with the rest of the officers who came, and they looked lovely. =)

Back inside, this is the left side of the room, with the screen that showed the films. Dance floor was in the middle.

This was the right side, nothing special except that there was a stage in the front with a microphone that was later used for singing karaoke, lol…

The butter had a nice touch with its saxophone shaped carvings. =) Free APAS pens, yay!

Mrs. Doherty’s finished painting of oriental fishes. It sold for about $190 if I recall, which is pretty good. For a good hour, all of the officers manned the tables, making sure that nothing was stolen. I was in charge of the books and gift certificates. Some people came up to me asking if I knew anything about the books, hehe. =0

The entire place was filled; the gala was a success. The performers by 4 Ms. APAS contestants was entertaining. Ms. Phillippines was the hottie of the night, lol. =P The APAS film was interesting and reminiscent to many. Ms. Phillipines won the title (following by Ms. Vietnam as 1st runner-up and Ms. China as 2nd). WDSU’s Roop Raj was the Master of Ceremonies and Bobby Jindal even came to say some encouraging words. I got to see old people [line] dance which was cute and funny at the same time. I got to hear songs that I haven’t heard in ages (“It’s Electric! Boogie woogie woogie!”). And I took many pictures throughout the night.

Time for the tempting food!

The first dish was salad, with light dressing. Mmm…

Rice, boiled vegetables, chicken, topped with some sort of sauce and crawfish.

And what was to die for, lol…

It’s called “The Opera” Haha…it was soooo rich and yummy. Reminded me of the senior’s Jesuit Alumni Banquet. Haha, like the message?

Lol, playing with my food.

Guess who that guy is? Lol…I’m such a dork. (hint: RR)

This is for Mary and Rena, haha…yall were the first people that came to mind when I saw this. Although, this happy guy looks scary…

A really bad picture of all of the Phillippines people who attended.

I got a ride with Mike and we left around 10:30pm, which wasn’t bad at all. Just enough time for me to get some sleep and make it to church the next morning. =) Good first experience at the Gala. I realized that if I would have done a dance…omg, it would’ve gotten so much attention…*feels kinda bad now for missing that opportunity*

Sunday, headed to church, and in Bible study, Jason had these two lemons for some reason…

Cute!

Miss good ol’ Katrina. Hope she comes back to visit one day…=/ Got to see Christine though, which was a nice surprise. =)

Bad Jojo, what you smokin? Lol, j/k. Mmm…can I have some?

Shau gave me the Moon cakes that she had purchased in Dallas; they were rather expensive though. =0 But it’s all good. At least I can say it came from Dallas. =)

It’s that time of year. Happy Mid-Autumn everyone!

Not sure what I did that evening, haha…it’s ok, because this entry is too long anyways…
