My thoughts on the TNG debate.
I really don't care that it's exclusive to a particular age range and I don't think they really meant it to sound harsh. But I ask you this, if the event was gender exclusive rather than age exclusive, would we even be having this discussion? Now, I've never been to a TNG event (simply because I don't have time and I alway hear about them last minute), but I have been to several munches (besides X-Group) where everyone there was young and there is a different energy at those events. Why am I bringing up energy? Because that's precisely the same wording a lot of the unigender parties profess; different energy. And it's true. So why is everyone up in arms about this event being ageist? It is, but who gives a flying fuck? If I wanted to carve out a niche based on race, gender, sexual orientation, height, weight or eye color, I feel pretty confident that I would be more than welcome to and wouldn't get too much flak from the rest of the community. However, once we start differentiating by age, whoa, the shit hits the fan. The way I see it, the older people are up in arms because they're too old to order off the kids' menu. I want to bop them on the head and scream "There's other stuff on the menu!" It's not like you can't *play* with those people at another event.
