Perseverance is the steady pursuit of a goal inspite of difficulties and obstacles. Sadly, there are less and less people who have this admirable quality.
A fine example of perseverance is George Sampson, the 14 year old boy who danced his way to victory in the 2008 Britain's Got Talent competition. He first joined the competition in 2007 but did not make it to the finals. Instead of giving up on his dream, he did everything to raise the bar and become a better dancer by undergoing intensive training and practice. George would raise funds to pay for training by literally dancing in the street. He was earlier diagnosed to have a disease that involved the curve of his spine. The disease meant that his dancing would put his health at risk but even this obstacle did not stop George from dancing.
George's life is so centered on dancing that when he was asked to describe his ideal girl, he said she should be a good dancer. A person who is passionate about his craft wants to be surrounded with people who share the same passion.
What a great reminder!
