Summary: Cassie's drawing a scene.

A/N: This is my first piece for my
cottondays-inspired writing. Day one's inspiration:
She feels someone behind her and before she can cover up the drawing she's been working on for the last two hours or so, it's moved into the space above her head so he can see it.
"Wow," he says as he brings it closer to him until he reaches out and holds it in his hands. Cassie spins around in her chair so she can see him, still holding the sketching pencil she was using in her hand.
"It's not done yet," she mutters, unsure of how to respond to his compliment. She sets her pencil down on the desk she's sitting at in their motel and waits for him to say something else.
Nick sits down on the bed. "This is really good," he tells her.
She stands up and walks over to him. "Thanks," she replies softly as she sits next to him on the bed.
"Did you see this? Is this where we're going?" he asks her.
"No," she shakes her head.
He looks at her for a moment to determine if she's lying to him. She has gotten better at it, but he doesn't think she is. He hands it back to her as he stands up. "I'm going to go get us some food. Something with chicken for you?" he asks her with a grin.
"Yeah," she agrees, but she doesn't look up from her drawing.
He stares at her for a moment and contemplates asking her if something's wrong but instead he grabs his jacket and heads out to find some food.
Cassie goes back to her desk and picks up her pencil. She stares at her scene of a city street for a few moments before she starts to draw two figures walking down the sidewalk hand-in-hand. She feels slightly guilty. It's not like she actually lied to him. She didn't see this scene in the future, but it's one that reoccurs in her happiest dreams at night.
