And that should be it for the season

Shania Twain's American Idol episode was aired last night--she was pretty good, I thought. Took the auditioners fairly seriously and was professional, at least until she started getting really punchy on the second day. I have to say, I really do appreciate the fact that Shania Twain looks her age--she's clearly a woman in her forties, albeit one who takes excellent care of herself and has a fabulous skin care regime. I especially appreciate the fact she hasn't destroyed her face with an ill-considered lip job (all lip jobs look fake and terrible, I think it's possibly the single most uniformly ugly procedure people have and I don't know why anyone would like to look like a duck who's been punched in the mouth and incidentally have you seen Lara Flynn Boyle lately???)

Ahem. Seriously, Shania, much respect for continuing to look like an actual human, albeit a gorgeous one.

Otherwise it was a pretty boring episode--all would-be pop stars eventually sound the same to me, even the ones the judges think sound different. I'm sure a row of leopard Appaloosas would all look the same to the judges. (Except possibly Shania, who actually does like horses.)

So I may be done with Idol for the season, which is okay too.

silliness, television
