Not that I am looking for another horse, but I do like to look at sale ads. A couple of weeks ago I stumbled across an ad that made me think, "If I was looking for a horse right now, I would definitely call about this one."
Ad copy:
Super quiet horse, easy keeper, on the lazy side, currently used as a school horse. Trailers, clips, ties, swims, hack, never worn shoes.
This is a super 'hardy canadian'
Horse's age: 14.

I thought this, and I moved on, and then a minute later it hit me--"Hang on, did I just spend a moment yearning over a completely suitable horse?" Dang.
I should note that it's quite possible Mitzi will be my last horse, but should I find myself in fifteen or twenty years thinking, "I could still ride!" I hope I remember this epiphany and go looking for a perfectly calm, possibly lazy, horse in late middle age. Minor soundness issues needing coddling would be acceptable, considering the amount I would ride and my lack of interest in jumping.
These things occur to me as I get older.
