Rei laid sprawled out on his cousins couch in the apartment the two of them shared. The medication he was on gave him a nice slight buzz and even though he tried not to rely on the high of drugs he couldn't help but pop another pill. Rei wondered if Shige had got the bastards who had done this to him. Stuff like this rarely went unpunished by their leader and brothers. Shige also made sure it was double whatever they received and briefly wondered if the bastards were even still alive.
The front door opened as Rei's cousin Aki entered the apartment and set down his bag of supply's he had bought at the store. Rei had lived with his cousin after things got messy with his parents divorce. Aki could relate because his father was the one that Rei's mother ended up with. They even had suspicion that they might be half brothers with belief that Rei's mother was unfaithful to his father years prior. It was a long complicated situation that the two tried not to dwell on too much.
It didn't help that Aki looked almost identical to Rei only with his hair laid down and glasses. He didn't act like Rei though, he was mature. He didn't run with the wrong crowd and was doing relatively well in school.
"You look like you've done a lot today." Aki teased when he spotted Rei on the couch.
"Shut up, you don't understand the pain I am in." Rei responded crossly. Aki just shook his head.
"Then don't get into stupid shit." he walked to the kitchen and Rei didn't feel like giving a retort. Aki had made a good point it was his own fault anyway.
"What do you want for dinner?" Aki asked.
"Don't care as long as its soft on my jaw."
Aki laughed. "Why is it I am always taking care of you? Did you figure out if you are going home for Christmas?" he asked again knowing Rei would avoid the subject.
"Hmm." Rei shrugged it off the pills making him feel too good to think about his father at the moment. It soon got quiet as Aki began to prepare dinner and Rei eventually got wrapped in some stupid game show one TV. He had a few more weeks before Christmas before he had to worry about that stuff.
