I think you have a point about my generation -- these pollsters can only poll those with a phone. A majority of people I know have unlisted cellphones, and wouldn't answer a poll anyway. Pollsters may try to compensate by giving under 30's a bigger weight in the numbers, but that only goes so far. I'm hoping we're the uncounted majority, and we sweep the polls.
Unfortunately, a number of people I know back home (in a state where Bush has a clear majority) aren't voting because they don't feel like it matters. I blame the electoral college system for that. The problem is that then my liberal-minded young friends also miss out on voting for other things that matter -- like voting down the anti-gay rights bills these asshats are sticking on the ballots, or for the Democratic senator who actually has a shot at winning because the Republican candidate is insane.
I really feel for the people in battleground states. Do you know that I've seen less than five political commercials this season? I don't watch much television these days, but the times I've done so I haven't heard a peep from either campaign.
I've always volunteered, since I was in college during the Clinton/Gore campaign. Since then I've managed to see every "elected" president and vice president in person. *g* But the 2000 election really fried me, so much so, I haven't gotten involved with this election-- except for going to see the candidates at rallies and such.
I hope they aren't giving more weight to your generation-- for the sake of polls-- I just hope that they go vote. Sad about OK. It's important to vote on the issues as well. I hope they change their mind, even though OK will go for Bush.
Being in a battleground, which I firmly believe will go Kerry, has sucked, but I've seen John Kerry, John and Elzabeth Edwards. Kerry hung out here last week and they've paid attention to our measely 5 EC votes. I hope that the EC count won't be close and then when he's President he can start the ball rolling to get rid of it. *g*
And commericals. At least 5 in a row. My liberal alternative radio station took to airing an editorial after every Bush commerical. Nothing after a Kerry one. Hee.
Ha ha! I love it. I wish all radio stations did it. Heck, I wish the national media would even do it (instead of just parroting back what they've been told).
