DaVinci

I saw the DaVinci code last night, and hate to say it to ZombieQueen, I liked it. I liked the book too so...

I think the movie was lost on a lot of people who don't know about the religious aspects of it. The debate the two scholars have? All the things they mention are true. A lot of religious things we take as dogma was decided about 300 years after Christ died by a council of priests, including which books to exclude from the bible as we know it. Constantine was a pagan until his dying day (despite being named a saint in the church - for whom I'm named). The Templars WERE ordered killed on Friday the 13th en masse -- what they had kept secret is what's truly unknown.

My personal religious beliefs are not an issue here. Because it's Belief. People believe what they think is true and for them, it is true. More power to them. As long as they use that belief for the betterment of mankind as a whole, they can think whatever they want. Go right ahead.

I thought the film followed the book very well, kept a good pace, and I liked the semi-flashback sequences they had here and there. All in all it was far better than I had expected it to be with all the negative reviews.

(Not allowing comments in the event anyone wants to go on a faith/belief based rant here- this is just my own opinion and I'd rather not be flamed for it because belief is a hotbed subject for many.)
