Yesterday was Day 9 of the kitchen remodel.
Day 0 (T) - The general contractor arrives
Day 1 (W) - The range hood vent is installed in the ceiling. The general contractor falls down the stairs.
Day 2 (Th) - The GC points his cane and instructs, and the range hood vent pipe goes all the way to the porch - and momentarily through the storm window. Glass to be replaced later.
Day 3 (Fr) - The cabinets are removed. naked kitchen!
Day 4 (Sa) - Day of rest, like 7th Day Adventists. We go to a Halloween wedding party. GC stays home and makes lists about wiring.
Day 5 (Su) - back to work!! knock all the plaster off the walls. Creepiest haunted house you could ask for! Plastic sheets taped over the doorways were almost adequate.
Day 6 (Mo) - shockingly, there had actually been some blown-in insulation in the one wall. Of course, it was filthy and slightly moldy, and the lath had to come down, too... but it was a nice thought (in retrospect, icy cold cabinet interiors now somewhat inexplicable).
Plastic has been loosened to allow easier coming and going. House is getting dusty. Cat is loving shoving her way through the plastic-tarped doors. Cat is filthy. 1st guy from Craigslist who said he wanted the cabinets doesn't show up.
Day 7 (T) - ripped out doorframes, built-in hutch structure, cut new holes. Kitchen is very naked. Also, figured out how to get the wheels on the fridge unlocked so there would be less swearing.
Day 8 (W) - heck if I know what they did, it looked pretty much the same when I got home from work. Oh, right, cut a hole in the porch roof so the vent continues all the way out. And spent 2+ hours at Home Depot. 2nd guy from Craigslist who said he wanted the cabinets doesn't show up.Day 9 (Th) - Electrical stuff get started, and a large load of trash to the dump (primarily stupidly-heavy bags of plaster) yet the back yard still has a large pile of junk in it. Not even counting the cabinets.

Last breakfast in the kitchen
Halloween costumes in the empty kitchen - this is about the gothiest I've ever looked.

Lath is down, it's looked pretty much like this since Monday.
