Oh HELL, Dad!
I hope you can help me out. This was not written in the fine-print when I signed on for this Prefecting shite job!
S This wee second-year comes up to me y this morning. Now, he's one of the really shy Gryffindors, and he's often teased, other kids saying he should be in Hufflepuff and that sort of rubbish. I told them off once

Why me?
*sighs*
I don't know, though. I mean, I assume his parents didn't tell him about it for a reason, yeah? And it'd be one thing if his friends just told him, but for me, as a figure of some authority, to take it upon myself to presume that his parents would want him to know this? I don't know... *frowns*

You're very easy to talk to, I suppose and you don't seem all that threatening.
*small, rather nasty smile*
Well, if you don't want to tell him I always could. I

*eyes widen*
Please don't, Rab. As annoying and frustrating the whole thing is, I want to handle this properly.

I won't say anything to him. I'd probably scare him anyway, and I wouldn't want to go around scaring ickle Gryffindors. Your lot are the type to take that as a personal offense.

We only take things personally if they're directed at us in such a way. Like when your mates call me a stupid half-blood who doesn't deserve to be here.

That's just Regulus. He's rude. If you ignore him he gets bored, or he'll end up with a sore throat and you won't have to listen to him anymore.

Honestly, Rab...
*about to say more, then stops*
Nevermind. I know how to deal with people who wish to offend me personally; I've been dealing with it for years now.
Reply
I don't say it.
*opens his mouth and then closes it, looking away guiltily*
Reply
I know you don't. And god knows your friends can do things that you...
*stops, face gone still*
Anyway. I know you aren't out to hurt anyone's feelings.

Good. I wouldn't want to upset you, and I think that people who do say things like that are rude and rather stupid.
So, are you going to tell this boy? I mean, it's a bit hard on him if he doesn't know and what if he ends up embarrassing himself?
Remus, my father's idea of sexual instruction was rather lacking - he told me only deviants wanked and if you did it you'd grow hair on your palms. I'm rather thankful I was set straight on that subject, and I'm sure that this boy would be thankful too.

Just as long as you acknowledge that if anyone is going to try to personally offend a Gryffindor, most of the time it's a Slytherin. *small smile* And vice versa, of course. Thank goodness for exceptions to the rule, yes?
*sighs*
I'm going to wait and see what my father says. He handled that conversation pretty well, as I remember it, and he'll be reasonable about whether or not the kid's parents' wishes are worth respecting.
*bites his lip*
I hope Dad says to just tell Professor McGongall and let her deal with it...
Reply
*shocked*
Remus, he can't! That would be the worst possible option! Think how embarrassed the poor kid would be. How would you feel if McGongall had been the one to tell you about sex? And what if other people found out? He'd never live it down.
Much better he learn it from the older boys. That's how I learnt.

*considers what he knows about Rab's sexual knowledge and surpresses a wince*
*tries to sound reasonable*
Well, I know that I wouldn't want my son or daughter to hear about all that stuff from other kids. I mean, you know how especially blokes wind each other up and all. Who knows what kind of shite they'd tell him?
*straightens a bit*
If they think it's best for me to just tell him, then I will. At least then I know what he's being told...
Reply
I guess. And there are lots of people who'd take advantage of a gullible kid like that and tell him all kinds of things.
*nods, grinning a little*
Will you have diagrams for him and everything?
Reply
Exactly. And then that does him more harm than good, doesn't it?
*blanches*
Oh Merlin. I hope it doesn't come to that. I'm crap at drawing...
