I ... I would like to add something intelligent to this, but I can't. All I keep saying in my head is ... "Does that say genital waves? ... if it does wtf does that mean?"

ithobel campbell. twee woman singer in belle and sebastian and now NO MORE. wearer of headscarves. most insufferably twee woman in christendom. stroppy as hell at bowlie. nasty piece of work

and her band was called "the gentle waves" so obviously we have to call it "the genital waves" - about the only pleasure the whole ruddy band affords me really

i did try calling them "the genital brees" at one point, and have her as a genitalia and cheese obsessed so and so but - well - it wasn't as funny. so i didn't

but waving your genitals is far more entertaining than your average gentle waves album. as would the band the gentile waves

...i thought they were called the gentle waves - thanks to the above comments for clearing that up.

I know not much about her band but I know I agree with the whole indie subculture bollocks it's nice to see it put into words how damned irritating it is almost makes a girl ashamed to like the music.

well the thing is i DO like a lot of the music of the genital waves, but then the ruddy woman lisps her twee kitten and head scarves and knitting and dame thora hird bollocks over the top. and that line really takes the biscuit for me and totally sums up everything i hate about a certain kind of indie fan. "people who i'm worthy of" - bollocks! because then you imply certain people are unworthy of you. which to be honest, ithobel bloody campbell, is really everyone who's bought a record of yours...

yet still much of her stuff is wonderful. "weathershow" and "sister whateveritis" for example. and then i remember the rest and suddenly i feel a whole lot les gracious towards the simpering oafette

i have hated that woman since i first heard "the gate". i didn't mind her on "sinister" or "tigermilk" because she does very little, and then comes "nice banjo shame about the song" - oh dear. and it went downhill from there. she was singularly unpleasant at bowlie, and tried to seal off a little corner of the dancefloor for herself and her little brigade of pals. the other b&s people would come up and chat but she? oh dear no. she utterly represents a certain kind of music fan that i loathe in every way

and HEADSCARVES? she truly is the thora hird of modern music

however "weathershow" and a few other songs are wonderful, and musically the first genital waves album is sometimes rather lovely. then she has to sing over it. she is a wet and a weed and i shun her utterly
