And my brain keeps revolving around and around...

Seriously, don't tag this unless you're in that fangirl part of Supernatural fandom, or you just won't get it.

Of cons I could not go to, of fans and fandom and what it means to love something intangible as fiction )

bah stupid

You're saying that because of all the information out there, and how Misha relates to us, he's in a better position than most to understand what we are, how we do things. And if he stumbles a bit in our proverbial front yard, it's not because he's giving us the Kripke 'evil eye', but that he doesn't know where that elusive line is, that can't be crossed.
YES. This.

I think the thing I find most positive about Misha being around fandom is that... lol, I will sound backdoor-adulatory, but I'll get it out... I always end up thinking, 'Hey, there's a life outside of fandom.' And not in the defensive, self-hatey, 'fandom is for losers' way. Misha's presence actually makes this fandom more fun/playful for me to experience. And that has to be because he finds it fun, too, yknow? Feedback loop of loopiness.

I think I find Kripke's attitude towards fandom far more hypocritical than anything Misha could pull off, perhaps precisely because the former is in a position of enough power that he could afford to rethink his, I'm going to say this out loud, hypocrisy, especially as regards misogyny and this fandom. (Which is a whole other kettle of fishy worms: before we even reach the point where there's a female character for self-hating fans to complain about, there's the point where Kripke and co. can provide spaces within their narrative for female characters who have their own stories, stick around, don't die, don't turn into sex objects/love interests overnight, etc, etc, AT WHICH POINT there is a primary failure that can't be attributed to the fans.)

I really like that thought. That is a good, happy, gummybear porn thought (and thank you mods over at deancastiel for that phrase that will forever mean to me 'squishy happiness'). I like the thought of Misha making it less like we're the gay love interest that the main character sneaks around on his wife to see, but instead we're like the best friend, maybe even the unrequited-best friend crush. Misha has fun with us, we have fun with Misha, and ... it's just right.

I think my biggest problem with Kripke is that he hates us because we're not the demography that he wanted for this show AT ALL (and wtf, dude, two hot guys on a show with cars and guns and shit that blows up! That show was made for me), but at the same time he loves us, and he has a hard time grasping that. He really has this foreign idea of women - they seem to come out of this place where they're half porn stars and half the girl next door. Sometimes, watching this show, I wanna know where the real women are. Did the demons eat them? Are they all on some ceiling, burning merrily away?

He's resentful, and that hurts, because the man creates something we love, and cherish, and do our best to show our appreciation for. STOP BEING AN ABUSIVE BOYFRIEND, KRIPKE.
