But the civilians and their families. Oh, there were questions. They wanted to know where their loved ones were going. And for every one that was answered, there were five or ten or twenty more. NDAs were offered when appropriate, but more often than not, there were creative stories.
A subterranean lab.
A dig on the other side of the world (with no satellite phone reception.)
A boring cafeteria job (for the cook that got drafted when the military cook wasn’t good enough for a high ranking general.)
Some creative translating for a high-ranking official.
A scientist who might seem to be in the wrong place, but wasn’t.
But in the end… truth really was stranger than fiction. And no one actually knew where the members of Stargate command ended up.
