Riley and the vet
Today didn't go quite according to plan. Rebecca, our vet, and Katie the nurse arrived at 11:00am - the priority to take a further blood sample from Riley, who at the time was suitable sedated with Gabapentin. Despite several attempts the vet was unable to draw blood. The jugular appears to have receded, as the neck swelling has considerably reduced. Three attempts and I told her to stop as poor Riley was getting considerably distressed. She agreed and will come back in two weeks time for another attempt. Why will circumstances be any different I wonder.
The good news is that since last weighing Riley has put on 400 gms. His demeanour has vastly improved and clinical signs are positive. He and I will continue to take things one day at a time... (40 days of Thyronorm medication so far)
