Quite an interesting assortment of pop news this week!
First,
Howie's joining Britney on her Femme Fatale tour! Billboard reports: TRL fans, rejoice: the Backstreet Boys' Howie Dorough will join Britney Spears for a pop star reunion on her "Femme Fatale" tour next month.
The singer, who will open for Brit on her upcoming South American dates, will release his solo debut, "Back to Me," on Nov. 15.
"I'm so excited that I'm going [to be] joining @britneyspears on several dates of the Femme Fatale tour! Can't wait to see all my lovelies in Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Venezuela!! VIP info will be coming next week," Dorough tweeted.
While the two may have risen to fame competing on the defunct MTV video countdown show, their careers continue to flourish a decade later: Spears' "Criminal" video has notched over a million views since its debut last week, while Dorough and the rest of the Boys will continue their tour with New Kids on the Block as NKOTBSB in Europe next spring.
Lance, my goodness...the boy's got so many projects I can't even keep track of them all (still waiting on that reality show...) but apparently
he's got a play in the works...about "escorts": Kirstie Alley is in negotiations to star in a play Lance Bass is producing about an escort service run out of a fancy LA department store. The Fabulous Lies of Hollywood Whores, according to the Times, is still in its early phases, and no Broadway run is actually set up yet. The casting breakdown on Playbill explains that "the show is dirty, the show moves fast, but there is a deep and intoxicating heart that pulses throughout" so don't be too put off by all the sexwork. Alley would play the pimp, but the show also includes roles for "the whore" (male, 20-30) who wants to fall in love, the pimp's assistant, "the superstar" with a secret, "the d-lister," a paparazzo, a mean British lady, and a character actress who "must have a firm grasp of Russian, East Asian and Access Hollywood-Red-Carpet dialects." Comedian Jamie Kennedy is also attached as a producer, which just adds another level of "wait, what?" to the enterprise. You are sitting on a goldmine, Lance Bass!
If you haven't heard already, Kevin wants to rejoin Backstreet! Kinda sorta. lol This headline had me giggling:
Kevin Richardson crawling back to the Backstreet Boys "I would love to perform with them again on a more regular basis," Richardson told Ryan Seacrest on his morning show Tuesday. "Our chemistry when we come together just feels like old times." Oh Kev! Part of me wants more commentary from the boys on this, other than tweeting various write-ups, but I cannot wait for the cruise!
And last but certainly not least, Joey is showing off his acting cred! In a slasher flick. But it's Joey. lol
