Today's post is a little bit OT, a little bit meta. Probably more OT. It seems like the Jonas Brothers fever has died down somewhat from a couple years ago, but the name everyone's dropping these days is Justin Bieber. And rightfully so, with his recent
spate of awards, and being the
world's most streamed artist of 2010. Along with Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez (am I missing anyone?) these young pop artists have exploded in the last few years. Not to mention Jesse McCartney, who I admit I had a thing for a while ago (and he is growing up quite nicely, may I add).
Some pictures, in case you aren't familiar:
I would dig up some of their songs, but, eh...if you're interested you can search yourself. :) I've never been impressed with any of their songs; but then I wonder, is this what Nsync and the Boys sounded like back in the day when they invaded the radio waves? Part of me thinks yes, absolutely, and now it's my turn to be mystified by tweens' music preferences. But then again, their fans may be fans of our sparkly boys as well. Do you think today's pop acts are just the latest crop of artists mass-marketed to the younger generations, or do they have something significantly different? Do you think they have staying power?
