Challenge: #18: Delicious

One of the little known facts about Bruce Banner was that he was actually quite good at cooking. One would never know it from the disheveled mess of clothing he sometimes ran around in or the fact that in the middle of an experiment he would often forget to ear, but he actually did know how to fend for himself pretty damn well.

It was a talent he picked up while running in the various countries trying to outrun the Other Guy. He would travel and learn bits of the cultures he stayed with. He was sure that to a member of the country who had a more palate for the cuisine would have hated his hybrid creations. The creations just became Frankenstein's monsters of different cultures, something which Bruce had turned into an art of sorts.

Bruce enjoyed cooking and eating his creations, but he rarely made them for other people. He got strangely self-conscious when someone else would try one of his little creations. It was something special to him, a bit of a hidden art that didn't get put on display for the world to see. It was like a secret between him and the other person. Bruce thought he could count on one hand the number of people he had cooked his little monsters for.

Add one more person to that short list: Tony Stark.

Bruce hadn't made a big deal out of it when he asked Tony if he would like to come over and have him cook dinner for the two of them. No pressure, it would just be a hang out between them. Despite all the posturing Tony seemed to sense the invitation was important to Bruce. Or at least it had seemed that way to Bruce, he accepted with a surprisingly gentle smile.

After some kitchen science Bruce was finally done. He took a little more care with the recipe than he usually would and he was sure it would be delicious. After all, it was no different than a very simple chemical reaction. However despite himself he still felt oddly nervous. Tony wouldn't like it, Tony had chefs to cook for him and liked things a very certain way.

Tony tried some of the curry-ratatouille mixture cautiously. "Actually this is pretty good." He said with a smile towards Bruce, eagerly taking some more.

Bruce gave a small smile and looked Tony in the eyes, "I'm glad you think so. I was worried that it would come out like an abomination in the end."

"I think you have enough of a monster on your back to keep you busy for the rest of your life. You don't need to worry about cooking adding creating another one."
Bruce responded deadpan, “Thanks. That’s so comforting.”

“That’s what I’m here for.” Tony said with a touch of good-natured gentleness tempering his demeanor. “Anyway why don’t you sit down and eat with me. I hear tell meals like this taste better when two people eat it.”
