He isn't sure when it stopped being jumping and became something more. And yet here he is, hanging above Metropolis. Gravity has given up on him with a shrug; the sky itself embraces him. He waits for his leap's downward arc to gather him in, he waits to fall.
He doesn't fall.
He pauses a moment, catching his breath as he finds himself living every child's dream. He is a grown-up Peter Pan, an Icarus invulnerable to the sun's heat. The future spreads out before him, vast and dizzying, new vistas opening up to his dazzled eyes.
Clark spreads his arms and flies.
