Jubilee glanced at the clock on the wall, wondering how much longer the meeting could possibly last. She'd thought it would be cool and had been excited at the prospect of reuniting with Robin, even if they could go no further than this room, but she had quickly learned how wrong she was the moment Barney Rubble had taken the stage.

She looked around at the strange characters filling the room again. Robin actually wasn't there, and she wondered why. Did he have no reason to complain about Batman? It certainly hadn't seemed so when they'd been together before, but then maybe he just didn't want to air Bats' dirty laundry in this crowd. Unlike everybody else.

She rolled her eyes as Iolaus wrapped up his speech, "That was the day I learned my lesson. I'd had two chances to be better than Hercules will ever be, to be smarter than him, stronger and faster, and I took the apple to get the girl. I won't make that mistake again."

He stepped down next to a blonde girl. The only thing Jubilee remembered from Chloe Sullivan's speech was the fact that she'd fallen in love with her hero and was disappointed that he no longer even seemed to remember her name. The mere memory brought another eye roll from the teenager whose gaze dropped to her fingernails. Even her nails seemed more interesting than this motley crew.

She looked up with interest when a monkey suddenly started chattering excitedly. Abu, who she'd seen years ago in Disney's Aladdin, was jumping up and down and pumping his tiny fists into the air. "That's right, sport," Genie said, patting his hairy shoulder. "We are way better than them!"

"Yes, we are!"

"They wouldn't have gotten anywhere near where they are if not for us!"

"Here's to no longer being sidekicks but letting the real hero in us shine!"

"Here's to no longer washing our best friend's costumes!"

"Friends don't treat friends the way these heroes treat us," a Demon grumbled.

"Forget the costumes!" another cried. "I'll just be happy not to have to wash his underwear again!"

Jubilee stood with another roll of her eyes. She'd had enough. She walked out without glancing back a single time and found Wolverine waiting for her just outside. "Enjoy yer meetin' o' Sidekicks Anonymous?" he asked gruffly.

She shook her head in annoyance and near disbelief and rolled her eyes yet again, but then she put her arms around him and hugged him tightly. "Don't ever change, Wolveroonie."

He clasped her back, then returned her hug. "Don't worry, little darlin'. I've been through Hell, death, an' back an' ain't changed yet. This old Canuckle Head's dyed in the mud."

"Stay that way," she murmured against his uniform, leaving him to wonder just what had happened in the meeting. Jubilee wouldn't say, but she was grateful he was her hero and nothing like the so-called heroes whose sidekicks spent every apparent moment away from them doing nothing more than complaining.

The End
