Diet Time, take II

I lost 35 pounds last year, but put about 15 back on... so I'm back on a diet - before I get all the pounds back! Apart from it obviously looking better, losing weight is also better for my health and not in the least my crappy knees, in which torn ligaments and missing bits of cartilage abound. (Although I'm pretty sure things that aren't there can't actually abound.)

So. I started with going running this morning. I did about 12 minutes (didn't time it exactly) on a slightly uneven track, then 10 minutes of uphill training (there's a series of steps, not too high, but I just run up and down them a couple of times). This is especially good for the muscles around my knees and for regaining stability in my knees and ankles. Then the same distance back, 3 short uphill sprints (really short - but full-out sprinting uphill shouldn't last too long!) and then I was satisfied.

Shopping contained a lot of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, fruit, yogurt and ricecakes... No chocolate at all...  Going running again tomorrow morning. Let's hope I can get the re-gained weight off again.

Also, just remembered something funny. My friend J came over last Thursday and - at some point after drinking many cups of tea - went to the bathroom. For some reason, I'd put my new book of Dutch Law, which I'm studying for my Legal Translation course, on the sink there.

J: * back from bathroom *  Why are you studying law on the toilet?
Me: Because it's so boring, I can't keep it up for longer than 2 minutes at a time.
