Arioka Daiki
[An abrupt, soaking wet romance in the neighborhood♥]
►When I was in kindergarten, we had a bon odori festival inside the garden and everyone wore a yukata. It was so long ago so I can’t remember it very well, but, there’s a photo at my house where I’m showing my hand made uchiwa while eating ice cream. The uchiwa that I made only had oogly eyes (T/N: those plastic eye stickers that have moving eyeballs) stuck on it. It was super simple. The main point of the uchiwa was that when I shook it, the black eyes would move♪ The local summer festivals were also really fun~ There was this one haunted house that was rumored to be super scary!! Every year around that time, pamphlets for it were handed out in my elementary school. Around my 5th year in elementary, my friends said “Let’s challenge it!” and although we went to stand in line for it, once our turn to go inside got closer…we grew scared and quit (laughs) Because I didn’t go inside back then, now I can’t help but wonder about what in the world kind of ghosts are in there.
►You get an incredibly beautiful image when the sun sets and there are huge clouds up in the sky. That’s why, when it gets a little cooler in the evening, I want to take a walk together by a riverbed or a temple with the girl I like. Riding on a bike or running at the same speed sounds like fun! I feel the only during the summer can bring out one’s honesty and even during an average day you can get your heart racing about anything. Something like, summer being the beginning of your destined love sounds nice~ For example, getting to meet a girl that’s playing around with water along the road, how’s that? I’d be walking through the neighborhood and once I turn the corner, water comes out at me out of nowhere! Something like that. Then the girl would come towards me saying “I’m so sorry!!”, that’d get me really confused right? But, without getting mad I’ll say “I’m fine, I’m fine! Don’t worry!” as I stand up and leave. Like a gentleman, right?♪ Several days after that, we’d met all of a sudden at a completely different place and we’d end up saying, “Eh? Are you the one from that time?” and we’d go have some tea… I wonder if that’s too far out there (laughs)
Yabu Kota
[Getting the urge to pull out her hair ornament just from looking at it…]
►I wonder if it was around my 2nd year in elementary. I remember wearing a yukata and going to a summer festival with my mom. At that time, I looked a little older than my actual age and I had no choice but to feel happy when the older ladies around me would call me “cute”. I wanted to go with those older ladies so I’d separate myself from my mom on purpose. Once, I went to an area where my mom could still see me. There was this older lady that I didn’t know there and I clung on to her from behind and pretended to be a lost kid. Because my voice wouldn’t come out the older lady said “What’s wrong?” and patiently waited for me. Now that I’m thinking about it, that’s weird isn’t it? (laughs)
There was also a time where I participated in the neighborhood association’s Awa Odori Festival. We’d gather up at the city center and practice and on the real performance day, we danced throughout the long shopping district in a parade. While everyone else was dancing seriously, my friends and I were dancing while messing around.
►The one thing I’d like for a girl to wear during summer is definitely a yukata. Since you don’t see it often, it has a special vibe that I like~ If we went to watch the firework display for a date, I want to meet up with her at a train station that’s close to the two of us. There’s always a lot of girls wearing yukata during firework displays but I think it’s only a few that do so at local festivals.
In the midst of all the people that are wearing normal clothes, the sound of a yukata-wearing girl’s geta (T/N: wooden slippers) will be heard. Right up till our meeting point, you’d definitely get all hyped up, right?! I don’t own a yukata now, but if I could have a date like that, then I’d want to go and wear one too. I wonder if I should buy one. As for the hair style, it’s sexy when they gather up all of their hair into and up-do ne. If she had a hair ornament in it then even better! While imagining, “I wonder if all of her hair will fall if I pull out her ornament” I’ll end up wanting to pull it out (laughs)
