1lb sweet butter
1lb crisco
2 tablespoons turkish liquor
2 cups sugar
2 1/2 lbs flour
In pot, put butter and slowly bring to boil over low heat. Stir constantly. Boil until foam appears, continue stirring for 5 minutes. Cool.
Measure cooked butter, pour into large bowl and add equal amount of crisco. Beat until very foamy, about 10 minutes. Mix liquor into sugar, then add to butter and crisco and mix well. Mix flour in gently by hand until sides of bowl and hands are clean. Dough is now soft, but stays together.
Roll dough into 2-3" balls about the size of a walnut, shape into sticks and form into s-shapes.
Put onto waxed paper on cookie sheet, 5" apart.
Bake in center of 350 degree oven for 15-20 minutes, do not brown.
