I could come up with a lot of answers for this one, because I read a damn lot of series, apparently. But I'm going to go with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I got into HP right before this book came out, so I got it delivered to me the morning it came out, and I read that thing in a matter of hours, finally finishing it at like midnight, bawling my eyes out. Because of the way I read the series, it was the first book to have a real emotional resonance with me, and I've reread it at least five or six times now. I've finally stopped crying while doing so.
Day 07 - Least favorite plot device employed by way too many books you actually enjoyed otherwise
I'M TIRED OF EVERYONE GOING EVIL. WAH.
Honestly, though, I touched on this while reading one of my FOTJ recaps. While I know storytelling dictates that the protagonists have to run into problems and obstacles and have something to fight against, it wasn't till I saw the bad guys have problems like that that I realized that I want the bad guys to have problems. A lot of it has to do with the narration and the POV where they don't know that the antagonist ran into an obstacle in fighting them, but I think it just makes for a more interesting story.
Day 08 - A book everyone should read at least once
This is where I'm going to say Me Talk Pretty One Day, by David Sedaris. I absolutely love this guy, and this is the book that hooked me hard. (
fourteenlines' fault- most of the books I love are someone's fault and I love them for it) If nothing else, read the story in there by the same name- it's about him moving to France and trying to learn the language in a class, and you will see what I mean.
