It's almost to late at night, to early in the morning, to go to sleep now. He can hear the opposite sides of the debate, the debate that has raged in his head and no where else, both sides repeating their point of view so many times that the words don't register anymore, just hums in his subconscious, a low buzz under his skin.
An itchy sense of anticipation, it's not like he doesn't know exactly what he wants, it's just he's always been good at talking himself out of it.
Jason smiles when he kisses Dany. Laughs when they make love, wakes Dany up with cold feet. Ilya's hands shook when he touched Dany's face, he kept his eyes closed every time they kissed.
Dany can never forget their first kiss, the prickly tingles of static between them, much the same way he can't remember the first time he kissed Jason. Something like strong coffee and maybe on the way to training.
…..
Nothing kept them apart but each other, but they meant a lot to each other, enough that Ilya didn't bother to look surprised or to grandstand when Dany knocked on his door. Just let him in.
"This doesn't change anything." Ilya tells him mildly, tone at odds with the way he is standing. Leaning back against the dresser with his legs crossed at the ankles, fingers by his hips digging so hard into the wood his knuckles are a white line cutting through the air.
"I know." Dany replies, and Ilya just smiles.
"You don't, not really." He tilted his head up as Dany walked closer and whispered "you don't want to."
Dany shrugs and Ilya leans up and bites at his bottom lip, and suddenly his hands are under Dany's clothes.
"I won't tell Jason." Ilya whispered in his ear, “as long as you don’t tell me any lies.”
