OK, so note in this (out of focus) picture how there seems to be a...a....GLOW in the stairwell...
The paint is VERY blue.
The top of the wall is NOT painted, because we keep setting stuff on it while we do the other painting....so I'm doing that absolutely last.
My stairwell looks like a Tiffany box.
Not done yet, of course.
Here is Steve. Trembling inside, because he is terrified of heights. I offered to climb the ladder, since I'm not afraid, and he said "no, a real man doesn't put his wife in harm's way".
"even when he's scaredy?"
"Even when he's scaredy"
Painting....
Not sure if my shock at the color is because the color REALLY IS too much, or because we're just so used to the beigeness it used to be.
Whatever. We ain't doin' it again!
I ordered new curtains for the landing window last night. Kick butt sale at JCP. Which is where I always end up, after searching high and low...
It's this ensemble, without the fringy valance, in a different color combo that I HOPE will pull the walls and wallpaper and even living room color all together....
Found some for the breakfast nook, too...
Grand total less than a hunnert bucks. Oh yeah.
So today, my own little handyman worked on the doorway to the kitchen.
There used to be a door there. When he made the little closet on the left into a pantry, he flipped that door, because it made sense, if you were going to open it from the kitchen...but what he really did was take the door to the kitchen, shave it down to make it fit, and put it on the closet. We decided we don't reall need a door in the other doorway. BUT....to repaint, we need to fill in the scars from the hinges and lockset. So that's what he's working on here.
Sanding where we pried off the door jamb....yummy yum....lead paint dust!
So it's all spackled and awaiting another sanding before painting.
What else did I do today?
OH....totally organized the drawer next to the stove AND the fridge. The fridge was kind of gross. But I've got little baskets in there now, and I pitched anything "questionable"...you know, ancient condiments and the like.
Exciting, huh?
On a totally unrelated note......
THINGS I WISH WOULD GO AWAY:
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes
Anna Nicole
College football
Pro football
Jessica Simpson
Winter
I'm sure there are more......
SO glad it's a short week this week. Tomorrow I have a massage, which always makes me kind of happy. Shrinkage on Tues, dance on Weds. Thursday with the inlaws. Making
vegetable tian and
apple crisp. The apple crisp is really easy, and is AWESOME. I would suggest giving it a try. Especially with vanilla ice cream. Heh.
