There is an old story from the Navajo Reservation about one night a Navajo man who was hitch hiking through the part of the Reservation that's in Arizona. He sees a car slowly pull up and he gets in. When the car starts to move again he turns to thank the driver to find the driver seat was empty.
The car made its way for the curve, the man thought that the car was going to go over it and he was going to die. He was praying then a hand came through the window and turned the car. The man was truly terrified now. He realizes the car was under the possession of an anti'i'h, or a witch in the Navajo language.
He watched as the car moved in such a manner through three more curves, each time a hand came through the window and turned the wheel. After that the man regained his wits and jumped from the car and ran all the way to Sanders, AZ, which is border town on the reservation. He goes into a bar and tells the bartender to give him a double scotch. Which the bartender does and he starts telling the patrons what he saw. The patrons pretty much write him off till they realize he's sober. the all get quiet as he starts to cry.
In the bar walk two old Navajo men one says to the other "There he is, there's the asshole who got in the car while we were pushing it.
Happy Halloween folks.
