a/n: because the latest vixxtv episode gave me too many hakyeon x white unbuttoned shirt feelings. how can it not...
He looked at himself in the mirror one more time, his tanned hand coming up to his head to pick one of his dark strands into place. Scrutinizing his looks another time, Hakyeon decided that he looked decent enough with his white button down shirt that framed his skin tone nicely. His eyes trailed down to the top button, looking at it appraisingly. Maybe if I just…, he thought, his fingers sneaking up, unhinging the little knob tentatively. Yes. Hakyeon made his way of out the bathroom, perfectly happy with himself.
In the hallway he almost stumbled over Taekwoon, who was crouched on the floor, seemingly looking for something. Curious, he bent down next to the main vocal, looking at the floor around them.
“Taekwoon-ah, are you looking for something? Do you need some help?”
Taekwoon glanced at Hakyeon’s face in an attempt to say something, but his eyes involuntarily trailed down to his neck and the exposed hint of his collarbones under the opened shirt, his eyes widening a little. He looked away quickly before Hakyeon could see the blush creeping onto his cheeks shaking his head as a response to the leader’s question.
Hakyeon, being completely oblivious at the other’s reaction, moved closer to Taekwoon.
“Are you sure?”
Taekwoon stole a tiny look at the other before gulping, quickly nodding his head before looking away. Huh, Hakyeon thought, shrugging mentally. He patted Taekwoon’s back before standing up, making his way down to the dressing room, unaware of the little breath the main vocal let out as he moved away.
When he entered the dressing room, he could see Hongbin and Sanghyuk working on their dance moves in the corner. He smiled, knowing how hard the two were working to make their stage perfect. Making his way over, Hakyeon noticed Wonshik sitting on the couch at the far end of the room with his earphones plugged in, Jaehwan fooling around with one of their stylists on the opposite side.
Seeing their leader make his way over through the mirror, Sanghyuk turned around to ask for help on a certain move he couldn’t quite get the feel right now. The youngest opened his mouth to speak before his eyes set on the looks of the eldest. His eyes darted over the exposed skin of his neck, before he cast to the side, his train of thought having completely vanished from his mind.
“Uhm…” Sanghyuk stumbled over his words, unsure what he had wanted to say. Hongbin came to his rescue, and Sanghyuk smiled at him thankfully.
“Hyung, can you show us the dance move after this one again?”
Hakyeon smiled, making his way over to stand in between them, going through the dance steps one by one.
“And then, you move your hand this way-“, he said while running one of his hands sensually down from his left shoulder over his chest. Hongbin’s and Sanghyuk’s eyes were glued to the slightly crooked collar of his shirt, falling open just perfectly to show off more of the eldest’s tanned skin. Hongbin quickly looked up, his eyes meeting with Sanghyuk’s own ones, and they both looked away, embarrassed.
Hakyeon turned around to them after finishing the choreography, looking expectant.
“Did you get it?” He asked with a serious expression, not noticing the slightly awkward atmosphere that spread in the air between the two members.
Without looking at their leader the two nodded, Sanghyuk’s hand coming up to fumble with his earlobe while Hongbin was trying to fan himself a little with his shirt. Hakyeon figured they were focused on the steps, going through them again in their minds, and he smiled contently.
He left the two alone, not paying attention to the look they sent him behind his back, making his way over to Jaehwan. The main vocal was currently narrating how his make-up got applied, playfully reprimanding the make-up artist with his ahjumma voice. Hakyeon sighed, but couldn’t help the small smile gracing his lips. Good old Jaehwan, always trying to make people laugh.
But Jaehwan’s voice stopped as he saw the leader approaching through the mirror in front of him, sending him a brilliant smile. Hakyeon stood behind the chair on which the younger was sitting, poking at his hair.
“Woaah, Jaehwannie, you look good!” Hakyeon exclaimed with exaggerated excitement, bending a little forward to look at it from the front.
The gesture caused his shirt to fall forward giving Jaehwan a little view of Hakyeon’s upper chest, his mouth going a little drier than usual, his smile faltering at the sight. Jaehwan tried not to look, but his eyes kept trailing back to the tan expanse of skin, and he run his tongue over his lower dry lower lip.
“You, uhm,” he started, trying his hardest to keep his composure,” You don’t look bad either, Hakyeon-hyung.” The words were calmer and a little more honest than he had intended, wanting to play along the leader’s game but failing.
Hakyeon sent him a bemused look before imitating how girls swing their long hair back behind their shoulders. “Oh, I know. Only for you, my little Jaehwannie!~” He said, letting out an amused laugh at the main vocal’s frozen expression. “Oh come on, you know I’m just kidding!” Hakyeon announced before setting eyes on Wonshik, waving once as he made for the couch, and the rapper that was sitting on it. Jaehwan followed him with his eyes through the mirror, letting out a small groan. Such a tease, he thought bitterly.
Wonshik startled as he felt the couch next to him dip with Hakyeon’s weight, having been much too focused on repeating his lines. He plucked one of his earphones out, eyebrows raised at their leader in question.
“What’s up?”
Hakyeon rolled his eyes. “The sky, dumbass. Can’t I just come over to sit next to you without you questioning it?” He rolled his eyes in mock-annoyance before leaning into Wonshik’s side, curiously trying to see what the rapper was listening to. “Oooh you’re listening to Super Hero? You're not rehearsing?”
Wonshik wasn’t paying much attention to Hakyeon’s question though, his attention completely bundled by how the elder’s body was pressing into his. His attention flew even more out of the window as he turned his head slightly to look at the other, eyes falling onto the open collar of the white shirt, presenting the dip of Hakyeon’s collarbones proudly. Wonshik swallowed hard before turning back to the laptop on his knees, trying to focus his attention onto something else, completely forgetting to answer the question directed at him.
Hakyeon’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion, and his hand came to Wonshik’s side, nudging him for an answer.
“Are you ignoring me?” He asked menacingly, jabbing the tip of his fingers harder into the rapper’s side. The latter let out a small yelp, shuffling his body away from Hakyeon in an attempt to escape.
“N-no!” He exclaimed, eyes looking anywhere but at the leader, feeling helpless. Wonshik’s eyes met with Hongbin’s for a second, and the rapper tried to plead wordlessly for help.
“Wonshik-ah, it’s your turn to get your make-up done!” came the sudden call from their manager, and with a relieved sigh and an apologetic glance to Hakyeon, Wonshik almost ran to the chair appointed to him.
Hakyeon was left sitting on the couch, arms crossed in increasing annoyance. He couldn’t put his finger on it, but his members sure were acting strangely right now.
After a few minutes of brooding over it, he sighed, giving up. It was their first stage on Immortal Song after all, they were probably all just nervous and excited, Hakyeon mused. Yeah, that was probably it. He was also starting to feel the adrenaline in his veins as he thought about standing on stage in a few hours with a song that wasn't their own.
He stood up and made his way to one of the mirrors, checking his appearance once more, flicking the collar of his shirt back into place. His smile turned smug as he looked at his reflection. Yes, he concluded, turning his eyes to the room, the top button really works much better undone.
