[RL with Ty Lee; Surpraise Hug]

Feb 20, 2008 22:22

It was a fairly typical day at the precinct. Lassiter was still nursing his coffee (three creams, four sugars) and flipping through the files on his desk, determining which case was the most urgent. O'Hara was asserting her independence, and attempting to display her competence, somewhere else. Carlton still thought it was a bad idea to give such a ( Read more... )

She had waited, muscles tense for him to come her way. It was a wonder that Ty Lee could have hidden for so long but she had kept herself quiet so long. Soon enough he was in her line of vision.

Unable to restrain herself any longer, Ty Lee barrelled towards Lassiter.

Sensing movement nearby, Lassiter immediately dropped the papers he was carrying and turned to face the source, one hand going for his gun and his other coming up defensively. Seeing that it was a girl didn't phase him one whit; criminals were criminals, no matter their age or gender, and he'd treat them as such.

But he still wasn't - quite - fast enough.

He had started to move to defend himself. Perhaps she was getting a bit slow, most wouldn't be able to react to her charges, but Ty Lee wasn't phased.

Opening her arms just as she reached him, she was ready to do what she came there to do.

...A hug?

Lassiter stood there, dumbfounded. She'd made good on her threat, and he'd been powerless to stop it. The indignity hadn't hit home yet; it was too soon.

"What are you doing?" he asked slowly, standing stock still and looking down at her arms encircling his waist.

A smile was spreading across her face, a rather large one.

"Giving you a hug! Didn't I tell you that I was going to give you one?"

"Stop. touching. me," Lassiter said, eyes narrowed and tone definite.

He could not assault an innocent (otherworldly) civilian. That would be an embarrassment to the force.

And... she did seem more genuine than Spencer, but that only made the situation more awkward.

Stop and have her fun gone? That was something Ty Lee was unwilling to do.

If anything she tightened her grip slightly.

"You're still pretty grumpy, I don't think I should."

"I could have you arrested for this." He winced, muttering, "And probably indecent exposure, too."

She blinked.

"Arrested...? For a hug? And what's wrong with my clothes?"

Enter Shawn, stage left!

"Lassy!" Shawn greets loudly and strides over to the pair of them. "Just the pair of holsters I was looking for." When he notices Ty Lee, he raises his eyebrows and looks down at her.

And then up at Lassiter again.

"Clearly I'm interrupting something more than slightly illegal. I'll come back later." He starts to turn and walk away, amused.

"Stay right there, Spencer," says Lassiter quickly, going so far as to make an aborted movement toward him. Ty Lee wrapped around him prevented him from going any farther.

"I, uh..." He thought fast. Say she's his niece? No, damn it, they looked nothing alike. "I was just getting rid of this nuisance - " he took the moment to glare at her - "before going back to work."

A bit shocked by Shawn's quick entrance, Ty Lee blinked again. All the talk of "illegal" acts made her more than slightly confused. But, in her own way, she was quite firm on the fact that she would not be leaving any time soon.

"Nuisance? You're being grumpy again, Mr. Officer!"

"Usually before 1pm everyone is a pain, not a nuisance." Shawn chided, and then directed his attention to the only person in the general area dressed in the fashion of a xiaolin monk. "You're lucky you caught him before his second caffeine fix. Because after that, people just tend to fall under the category of untouchables..."

And then he unexpectedly trailed off, and then changed the topic altogether.

"Just for my personal whimsy, is there a reason a chakra warrior's setting up camp in the PD? Because I myself have a few samurai staying at my apartment and they'd love a chance to hit the town."

"First of all, don't listen to him," said Lassiter firmly, "and secondly, stop hugging me. I will not be responsible for my actions if you don't. I'm warning you."

"Why not? He's funny," Ty Lee said in a conversational tone, as if she wasn't on the ground hugging an unwilling police officer, "I'm going to let go if you stop being grumpy. Not before."

Perfectly cheerfully, he answered, "Because he's a moron, and a liar. How does this sound? Is this better? Look, you've successfully cheered me up! You can go on your way now!" Lassiter made a shooing motion with his hand, though with their awkward position it ended up being over her head. "No, really - go."
