[RL with Ty Lee; Surpraise Hug]

It was a fairly typical day at the precinct. Lassiter was still nursing his coffee (three creams, four sugars) and flipping through the files on his desk, determining which case was the most urgent. O'Hara was asserting her independence, and attempting to display her competence, somewhere else. Carlton still thought it was a bad idea to give such a junior officer so much responsibility - a murder investigation? on her own? - but she had insisted, and the no-longer-interim Chief, in her infinite wisdom, had backed her up.

This left Lassiter with his paperwork, which, truth to tell, he wasn't all that upset about. He liked a bit of monotony now and then; aside from that, it looked like Spencer was off tagging after O'Hara like an obnoxious kid brother. The idea of Spencer as anyone's brother was scary enough that he needed to move to dispel it. Carlton stood up, tucked a file under his arm, and strode toward the copy machine.

Completely unsuspecting.
