More skillful than a Chinese sweatshop worker

One thing's bothered me about my MacBook Pro since I bought it: The fit and finish was great overall but totally crappo at the lower-left of the casing. It bounced if you pressed on it, it squeaked doing the same, and it just generally ruined what otherwise felt like it was worth the price Apple was charging for it.

And I know I'm not the only one who's had this problem with a 15" MBP of that generation; it's a relatively common (though not widespread) complaint.

Now, 2 years into owning the damn thing, it's fixed. Picking it up tonight, I noticed the screw at that corner moved as I grabbed the computer. On a hunch, I squeezed the palmrest to the bottom case as tightly as I could and tightened the screw up. Blammo, fixed.

That's a much more satisfying (and cheaper) fix than the $134 I paid this week to fix my Mac Pro. [Wasn't a hard drive, by the way.] But here's hoping APC ends up covering that since their UPS evidently failed to protect said Mac Pro against a power surge.
