To the datacenter!
I've let enough good ideas pass me up (I totally invented Yelp a decade ago and thought, "Eh, this'll never catch on") I'm taking the bull by the horns this time.
I've got an itch I need scratched, so I scratched the basics of it in about 8 hours this weekend. (Why nobody else has tackled this, I don't know. It's not a difficult problem-not even too difficult as it scales-but everyone does it the horrendously clunky way instead.) Now I've spent the day on the phone and e-mail with data centers pricing out colocation. We'll see how this comes together as I get quotes back and tour facilities.
On that note, I'm probably going to end up with more space/power/bandwidth than I need, so if anyone's looking for hosting, keep in touch.
