Elijah, Simian Records and Apples in Stereo
To be honest I've only heard one of their songs yet *feels ashamed*
You may not have heard of Apples in Stereo, the self-decribed ''indie power-pop'' band that hits Fort Lauderdale's Culture Room on Friday night, but Elijah Wood has. In fact, it was the first group on Simian Records, the label Wood launched after finishing Sin City in 2005.
Frodo, as he was known in his iconic Lord of the Rings role, seems an appropriate partner for a band whose other-worldly, multilayered sounds incorporate instruments like the mellotron and cow bells for low-fi, neo psychedelic rock that harks back to the sounds of '60s Beach Boys and '70s Electric Light Orchestra.
