Nervous didn’t even to begin to describe how Jensen was feeling. He could sense the sweat trickle down the back of his neck as he rested against the limo, Jared at his side. His hands felt clammy and he could feel the suit start to stick to him.
Jared must have noticed how Jensen was shifting in his seat and sweating buckets.
“Jensen, we don’t have to do this,” Jared said, hand resting on Jensen’s thigh. Jensen looked down at the hand, broad and huge - the ring on his ring finger looking almost delicate even though the band was wide. Jensen put his own hand on top of Jared’s, tangling their fingers together and rubbing his finger over that ring that meant so much.
“No. As nervous as I am and as hard as this is going to be, I’m ready. I just don’t want the backlash to affect you in any way. I direct now, so it’s not as big a deal for me, but you still act. I don’t want this to influence the decision in casting you or not because you have a husband rather than a wife.”
Jensen let the fears he had for Jared tumble from his mouth. It was completely true. He wasn’t going to face the wrath of fans as much as Jared might. With Jared at his side, he was okay to face the world, because Jensen wasn’t ashamed at all of being with the gorgeous man next to him. He knew Jared wasn’t ashamed, but he also didn’t want Jared to regret this in any way.
“Jensen, if they don’t want me for that reason, then I wouldn’t want to work with them anyway,” Jared reasoned. “Besides, I’m ready to claim to the world that you’re mine and everyone else better back off.”
Jensen laughed at that, secretly glad he could lay claim as well.
“So we’re really going to do this? Come out to the world on the red carpet before the premier of my directorial movie debut?” Jensen asked, looking up at Jared.
“Till ‘death do us part, Jen,” Jared murmured, leaning over for a kiss.
