Jared and Jensen have been married for two years and it still feels like they’ve only been dating a couple of months. Jensen hopes it stays that way, he doesn’t ever want his relationship with Jared to get old and repetitive. He wants it to remain new and different and he wants them to be with each other forever, though he’d refuse to say that out loud because he knows Jared would mock him forever.
He does think its time for a different kind of change though. For the past couple of weeks he has been thinking of a very huge yet very tiny type of change, a baby. He’s always loved kids and he had always thought that he would get married and have a couple of kids one day. But that changed when he met Jared, and he doesn’t regret anything but he knows that he still wants kids and hopefully he can have them with Jared. Not physically of course, because contrary to popular belief he is not a girl.
He has to talk it over with Jared though, and he’s not exactly sure Jared’s feelings on the subject. Sure, in the broadest sense, he knows Jared wants a family, but Jensen’s not positive on whether he wants one now and with him. Hopefully it is with him, because Jared’s not one to just leave Jensen and Jensen knows how much Jared loves him. One thing he doesn’t know is if Jared has thought of having a family with him, if that has ever crossed his mind.
He resolves to talk it over with Jared tonight and hopefully Jared and him are thinking the same way.
That night as they’re laying in bed, Jensen decides to bring it up. Jared is sated and limber and Jensen knows he’s taking advantage. He wiggles a little in the circle of Jared’s arms and scoots back a little ignoring Jared’s disgruntled expression of having to move.
“Hey Jay?”
“Hmm?” Jared lazily hums at him.
“I was thinking…”
“Never a good thing,” Jared quips.
“Hush. Anyways, I was thinking about…kids” he whispers the last part, still a bit nervous on what Jared would think about it.
“Kids, huh?” Jared wonders. He doesn’t sound upset, but actually, smug?
Jensen looks up when he figures out Jared’s tone of voice and sees a blinding grin along with a raised eyebrow and pure affection shining in his eyes, and Jared has to be the only one that can pull off that look without looking like a complete idiot.
Jared unwraps his arms from around Jensen and turns to reach into his night table drawer. He pulls out a fluffy looking thing and presents it in front of Jensen with that huge grin again. It’s a giraffe, a stuffed cute little giraffe.
Jensen looks at Jared who is looking at him expectantly and right then Jensen gets it. Jared wants a family too, he’s ready and he wants a family with Jensen. He grabs the giraffe with one hand, putting the other one behind Jared’s head and kissing Jared with all everything he can’t say: thank you, I love you, you’re amazing.
Jared leans back a little and that’s definitely a gorgeous sight. Breathless and flushed with lips red and swollen a little bit and Jensen just wants to lean in again.
“Guess we’re lucky we have this big house huh?” Jared asks teasing him a bit. Jensen is thrown back to when they first saw this house, big and spacious and perfect.
Jensen snuggles up into Jared’s arms, kisses the tan collarbone, and whispers, “Yeah babe, guess we are.”
