1.

It was their first real date. Jared had finally asked Jensen out even though he had beads of sweat on his forehead, clammy hands, and stuttered through his question. Jensen just looked at him and just as Jared was about to chalk it up as being a prank, Jensen said, “Took you long enough Sasquatch.”

They had gone the ‘dinner and a movie’ route, a movie filled with lots of explosions and noise. Not that Jared paid attention. He had Jensen sitting right next to him and nobody could blame him for looking at Jensen’s profile more than the screen.

They end the night with Jared dropping Jensen off at his place, walking him to the door like a true gentleman. Okay, fine, like a guy that didn’t want his date to end. Jensen stands there, looking at his shoes as if they were the most interesting things in the world. A light blush stains his cheeks and he mutters to himself as if he’s talking himself through something.

He glances up at Jared and asks in a whisper, “Wanna come up?” Jared wants to, he wants to real bad. But they’d have many more chances if he had any say in this and as tempting as the offer is, he doesn’t want to ruin what they have before it even starts. “Naw, Jen, I think I’m gonna head home.” Jensen looks a bit disappointed and unless Jared’s mistaken, there’s a faint hint of hurt that flashes through his eyes.

Before Jared can stop himself or think about what he’s doing, he leans down lightening fast and presses his lips against Jensen’s. Jensen lets out a surprised, “Oh,” and Jared’s hands come up to cup Jensen’s face. He keeps the kiss chaste, barely touching Jensen’s tongue with his own. He pulls back and Jensen’s frown is gone, a smile replacing it.

Jared grins at him with a smile of his own and leans down again, kissing him one more time. “See you on set Jen. Sweet dreams,” he winks before walking to his car, whistling all the way.

2.

Jared and Jensen had decided to move in together pretty abruptly. One night, not even five months since their first date, they were just sitting at Jared’s house, watching the game. Jared was leaned back against the couch, and Jensen was sitting in the vee of his open legs.

It was comfortable, and felt right. He wanted this every night and said as much. Jensen just glanced up at him and said, “Are you asking me to move in?” whilst batting his eyelashes. Jared shook his head, “No, let’s find a new place. One that we both choose.” Jensen looked at him and chewed his lip, worrying the tender flesh.

He nodded, breathed, “Yeah, Jay, that’d be perfect,” and pulled Jared’s head down into an awkward yet breathtaking kiss.

So they’ve looked at a couple places, apartments, duplexes, condos, but this is their first house that they’re viewing. They enter the house that’s just been built, and Jared is kinda already in love with the place. It’s big and spacious, yet cozy and inviting.

Through the glass doors they see a huge backyard that would be perfect for his, no their, babies. The agent is saying something about square footage or something but all Jared needs is to see Jensen’s face, so he glances at his boyfriend.

His green eyes are wide and shining with awe and something akin to home. Jared can’t help it; he leans down and kisses the parted lips. The realtor is standing right there and Jared is sure that a blush is working its way from Jensen’s cheeks to his throat, but Jared can’t bring himself to care. The look that was in Jensen’s eyes cinches the deal. It proves how perfect the house is, that it’s going to be theirs. For them and their family, hopefully.

He brings his hand to finger through the soft fuzz of hair above the nape of Jensen’s neck and Jensen gasps a little into the kiss, opening his mouth wider. Jared takes full advantage of that and glides his tongue into Jensen’s mouth, flirting with Jensen’s tongue. Jensen’s tongue tangles with his own and he has to lean back before it can go much further, not wanting to get into something that would scar the realtor, but from the look in her eyes, that’s the last thing she’s thinking.

He may grip Jensen a little tighter to him, but that’s only because he’s excited. He looks into Jensen’s eyes again for confirmation and Jensen nods a little and that’s all Jared needs. He glances at the realtor again, “we’ll take it.”

3.

The velvet box has been burning a hole in Jared’s pant leg pocket for days, maybe weeks. It just never seems like the right time to ask Jensen. Without sounding like a 12 year old girl, he wants it to be right, perfect. He realizes though, that there is no right time, or else Jared will be waiting forever, and he wants it now. He thinks Jensen’s going to say yes, but there’s still some doubt about that.

Jared decides to just bite the bullet and ask Jensen point blank the next time he sees him, which would be tonight for their weekly Friday date.

Jensen comes over around six that night, ready to watch the game and relax after a long week. They’re both lying on the sofa, Jensen’s back against Jared’s chest and Jared decides now is a good time as any. He pushes Jensen off of him a little, ignoring the irritated huff, and reaches into his pocket and pulls out the black box. Jensen’s eyes have automatically been drawn to Jared’s hand and his mouth is agape.

“Jared, what…” Jared doesn’t let him finish.

He gets off the sofa, barely managing to not knock Jensen out in the process, and kneels down in front of Jensen.

“Jen, you’ve made me one of the happiest guys alive. I am truly lucky to be able to consider you my best friend and my lover. Please marry me and let me have that luck forever?”

Jensen’s eyes have widened a bit and his mouth is still hanging open when he glances at the box Jared’s opened, a platinum band nestled inside. His eyes have gone a little darker and are filled with emotion. Jared pulls out the ring, with J&J Forever engraved on the inside and holds it to Jensen’s ring finger, just waiting for Jensen’s answer.

Jensen glances back and forth from the ring to Jared, back to the ring, and back to Jared. He has an expression of awe and love and hope and Jared can’t help but lean in and kiss him. He darts his tongue inside Jensen’s mouth and feels as well as hears the sharp gasp. Jared kisses Jensen harder, pouring all his feelings into the kiss, the feelings of love and home and forever.

Jared leans back a little bit and rests his forehead against Jensen’s, looking into the stormy eyes.

“Well?”

Jensen looks down at where Jared’s hand is still holding the ring to his finger and pushes his finger through the circle of the band. He looks back up at Jared and bites his bruised lip, “You sure you wanna be with me forever Jay?”

Jared laughs, “You sure you wanna be with me?

Jensen smiles, “Yeah, I do. Forever.”

4.

Marriage. It was a foreign concept to Jared. One, he didn’t think he’d ever get married after finding out he was gay, and two, he didn’t think he’d ever find that guy that would make marriage worth it. He paces the little room he’s been given in the church. Five paces from one wall to the other wall.

Jared’s anxious and nervous and he really needs to go see Jensen, because Jensen has this special power where one look, one word, one touch can calm Jared down. And right now? Jared really needs to calm down. Because when Jared gets nervous, which is a really rare occasion; it’s the whole shebang-sweat at his temples, clammy hands, some hyperventilating. And he really needs Jensen’s gentle words, his soft kisses, and his fingers rubbing up and down Jared’s back and carding through his hair.

He makes a decision and exits his room to go to Jensen’s across the hall. He knocks and hears steps coming toward the door and the door opening a fraction. It looks like Jensen is alone, thankfully.

“Jay, we promised we wouldn’t see each other before the wedding,” Jensen says as soon as he sees Jared. But Jared can tell Jensen really doesn’t mind him breaking that promise.

“I know, I know, but I had to see you,” Jared replies.

Jensen takes one look at him and opens the door wide, pulling Jared in before closing the door and pushing Jared against it. Jared looks down at his shoes; not wanting to show his nervousness to Jensen and making him worry.

“What’s wrong,” Jensen asks, “Second thoughts?”

Jared knows Jensen is just kidding, but he hears that hint of tension under his joking tone and it makes him look up from the interesting floor into Jensen’s green eyes.

“What? No, never.”

The crease that had been worrying Jensen’s forehead fades away and Jared can’t do anything but lean forward and catch Jensen’s lips with his own. The kiss isn’t chaste, but it’s not the normal passion-filled one either. It’s soft, reassuring, relieving, stress-reducing, and it calms Jared’s frazzled nerves.

That’s all it takes. One kiss from the man he’s about to marry and Jared’s ready to take on the crowd, take on the stares, and take on the world. After all, he’s going to have this for the rest of his life.

His hand comes up to caress Jensen’s cheek and jaw, and he nibbles a little at Jensen’s bottom lip before pulling away regretfully.

Jensen’s eyes have darkened a little and one of his eyebrows is raised, a silent question if Jared is feeling better. And yeah, Jared is most definitely feeling better.

“Thanks Jen, see you in a couple of minutes,” he says to Jensen before pressing a quick kiss on the small smile playing about Jensen’s lips before pushing Jensen back a little and opening the door. He pulls it shut behind him, hearing Jensen’s soft chuckle ringing in his ears.

Yeah, he’ll be ok.

5.

Crying filters through Jared’s sleep addled brain and Jared realizes that Ella is awake. Again. He loves his little girl, he does, but he wishes she would sleep just a little bit longer. He struggles to wake up and leave the warm bed because it’s his turn to feed her, but he feels a whisper of a kiss against his eyebrow and hears a faint, “Shhh...It’s ok Jay, I’ll go.”

Normally Jared would resist, but it’s been a long night and if Jensen’s already awake…

So he stays in bed. He doesn’t fall asleep though, he can’t, not without Jensen by his side, no matter how girly that sounds. Jensen has been gone for an awful long time though, so Jared gets up, slowly, to go investigate. He stops at the door of Ella’s room though, because he sees Jensen sitting in the rocking chair set up, rocking her in his arms and singing to the little lady. Ella is probably asleep by now, but Jared knows Jensen loves holding her.

Jensen has this soft smile on his face, as if his whole world is in his arms, and Jared can’t help but walk over to where Jensen and lifting his face and kissing him. He pours his love and affection into the kiss and leans back a little, just to bend down and place a light kiss atop Ella’s soft hair, smoothing it back a little. A smile creeps up on his own face because Jared’s whole world is right here in the rocking chair.
