I Am Back

Sep 16, 2011 21:55

Didn't intend to take an LJ hiatus, but it kinda just happened. Actually, I've noticed that since I got Twitter in April, I've been 'blogging' a lot less.. I mean, why blabber on and on, when I can just get a point across in 140 characters right?
The only reason I still keep this journal is to.. record my life I guess. It is interesting to go back to entries from like, first year, and be like 'oh yea, I remember when this happened. it felt like such a big deal then blah blah blah.'
I used to excessively (obsessively?) journal in highschool.. I wrote in one everyday (and looking back, a lot of it was stupid lol). And then in grade 12 I started writing less and less, until I just got too lazy and stopped in university haha.

Anyways, school has started.. Ugh.. this year is going to be a pain, because I'm going to have to apply to graduate.. and apply to other stuff to officially become a 'professional teacher' when I graduate. And then find a job (noooooooooooooo).

This week I went to my placement for the first time. My school is a lot closer to me this time (thank goodness). My mentor teacher seems really nice.. so yea, feeling fortunate for now.
I'm in a grade 6 class this time. Last year I was in grade 8, so I thought they would have put me in the lower end of juniors (like grade 4 or 5). I'm a bit nervous about teaching social studies.. and gym.
Last year I only had to teach math, english and art.. I won't even get any teaching-science experience this year because the other grade 6 teacher teaches science for both classes.
There are only 4 other TCs at this school besides me.. kinda good, because we seem like we'll all get along.. but kinda bad, since there won't be as many other people to bounce ideas off of.

On a side note, can't believe how cold the weather is getting already. Plus the days are getting shorter and shorter. It feels so.. suffocating.

Another (very) new development is that I got a job! From the pottery painting place I applied to in April. I was called in for an interview on Wednesday, and yesterday I went in for training after my placement. The job itself won't be that exciting.. when there aren't any customers around, I"ll have to clean and stuff, but its a cool environment nonetheless. I can't wait til I can get training for glazing and loading the kiln, but I don't think that will be until later.

Err my courses this year aren't that exciting. For studios, I"m taking painting and drawing. My profs for both seem very knowledgeable (and cool).
My drawing one is human-figure based, so we'll be drawing from models a lot.
My first painting project is kinda getting underway. We had to go downtown to take pictures, and from those, pic some to inspire or construct into a painting. I have no idea what I"m going to do yet. So far, I have just stretched my canvas (and yes, I finally had to give in and stretch it myself, since the teacher insisted on no ready-made ones).

Yea that's it. Maybe I'll post again, maybe not. I make no promises.
