Chapter 2

When he opened his eyes, everything seemed to be a blur. All he saw was just a dim gray light.

He tried to get up but ended up coughing instead due to his very dry throat.

“Hey, easy there,” a voice which sounded so angelic spoke to him.

He closed his eyes as he slightly opened his mouth and let whomever that had save him, help him drank the cold fresh water.

The last he remembered was that he was swallowing a lot of salt water. His eyes hurt so much and that his throat was burning, suffocating him from air.

“T-thank…y…ou…” he let out softly, still closing his eyes.

“You’re welcome. You have us worried there. You didn’t wake up for two whole days. I guess you are fine now,” the angelic voice continued to talk to him.

He smiled. He really thought that he had died there. Then he tried to open his eyes, everything was still a blur, but after a few minutes, his eyesight became a little clearer.

He noticed that he was in a cave, and that there was a shadow do to the fire. There was also a warm blanket wrapping around him, but he was lying on a flat rock, which made him feel really uncomfortable.

He tried to get up again. His head felt a little dizzy, but it was starting to get clearer too. The figure quickly helped him into a sitting position before backing away.

Then…he stared because the figure in front of him was really beautiful. He must’ve really died and gone to heaven.

“Kazuya, is he awake yet?” another voice interrupted his thought.

He frowned as he watched another beautiful man walking in and carrying a lot of woods on both shoulder like it was nothing.

The man dropped the wood onto the ground and started adding more wood into the fire to keep the fire burning.

He thought to himself that he must’ve really died. Two beautiful creatures were in front of him, so he did the only thing that came to his mind. He pinched himself, and it hurt. He wasn’t dreaming.

“Yeah, he’s awake now. He’s fine,” the beautiful guy whom was called Kazuya, responded back.

The other guy then approached him and keenly observed him, making him felt a little nervous.

“So what is yours name, and how did you end up drowning?” the other guy pulled him back.

He hesitated a bit and let out a small smile.

“I’m Ryo Nishikido. Well, I don’t know how I drown but I remembered that I was…” he stopped since he had just recollected the memories to the reason why he had drown.

“…I was trying to catch fish for dinner, but somehow, I ended up falling into the river.” he responded instead.

“Weakling,” he heard the guy who had those very sharp eyes mumbled.

“Tatsuya, stop being a meanie. He just woke up. Human are a weakling…I mean, the fish you caught must’ve been really big and strong,” the guy said to him.

Ryo frowned but did not comment on the weakling part.

“Who are you guys?” he asked.

The guy who helped him from the beginning smiled at him. Ryo had a feeling that he really like how the guy smiled at him. It was so kind, and well…almost hypnotizing.

“I’m Kazuya, I’m the one who help you from drowning. This guy is Tatsuya, he helped me to look after you.”

“I’m glad that you are fine now, Ryo. You have us worried there,” Kazuya continued.

“Ah, you don’t have to worry for now since we’ll keep you safe,” the guy told him with a smile.

Ryo didn’t understand why, but he believed him. Kazuya was so gentle and caring that his lips couldn’t help but to break into a smile.

He also didn’t miss how both Kazuya and Tatsuya stared at him before Kazuya abruptly stood up and Tatsuya looked away like he was growling. He frowned.

“I-I have to go. Tatsuya will look after you, and I’ll be back later,” Kazuya told him and hurriedly left.

Suddenly, everything was silent that it was really awkward.

Ryo decided to stand up and to his surprised, Tatsuya was helping him.

“Thanks,” he mumbled.

It had appeared to him that Tatsuya was also gentle except that the guy must’ve been really bad at showing his emotion.

“It’s fine. We’ll take care of you until you are…well,” the guy said to him while looking at him.

Ryo smiled and he noticed that Tatsuya frowned again before turning his head away.

Since he hadn’t moved his body in two days, his body was really stiff. Tatsuya not looking at him made the situation worse since the both of them ended up falling with him on top of the guy.

“Are-are you fine?” he asked worriedly since Tatsuya’s back hit the rock rather hard.

Tatsuya sat up straight and nodded like it was nothing to Ryo’s amazement.

So the two of them got up again with Tatsuya being extra careful that they wouldn’t fall.

Unbeknownst to them, Kazuya saw the last scene of them hugging each other before leaving the cave. He crushed the rock before taking his leave.

===========================================================

It had been almost three months since Ryo had became close with Kazuya and Tatsuya.

They help him built a small hut in the wood and they were always around that he had come to consider them as his family.

The only that bother him was that Kazuya and Tatsuya seemed odd since neither of them were from the village.

Kazuya and Tatsuya often mentioned that their families were strict and that they were not supposed to see each other. It was also hard for them to get out of the house, so their time was always limited.

That was all he knew about them since none of them seem like they wanted to talk about it, so he just kept quiet about it. But he suspected that those two must’ve been from rich families, which were probably rivals.

After he watched Kazuya and Tatsuya left with Kazuya waving him a goodbye and his cheerful smile, Ryo thought that it was time that he started going to hunt for some food.

He learned a trick from Tatsuya how to catch a rabbit by creating bait. Ever since then, he would catch something, such as squirrels and wild birds. If not, he just went fishing.

But first, he would go into the woods and gather some fruits.

While he was picking up some red berries, he noticed that he was not alone. He figured that they must’ve been the people from the village, but when two men appear in front of him, Ryo took off running, dropping all of the berries into the ground.

They were the people that have been after him before. They were also the people that were chasing him to the point that he ended up slipping into the river and almost drowned.

As he was running, he came to a dead end, and two more people was surrounding him.

“You can’t escape from us, Nishikido,” one of the men said and brought out a dagger.

Ryo looked from left and right. He couldn't run anymore.

Before the man could stab him, a voice suddenly called out.

“Stop! I’ll take it from here,” a man said and stepped in.

Ryo knew him. He was Tomashisa Yamashita, as known as Yamapi, and was his ex-lover.

The other four men look at each other and nodded before they left.

After they were alone, Yamapi looked at him.

“What are you doing with those people?” he found himself questioning the other guy, who seemed angry with him.

“They are none of your concern Ryo,” Yamapi said to him bitterly.

Ryo was confused.

“What I want to know is what are you doing with that vampire and that werewolf? Have you become their ally?” Yamapi asked him angrily.

Ryo was confused; he didn’t know what Yamapi was talking about.

So he kept silent because he didn’t know what to say.

“Oh right. You’ve left me, I’ve forgotten. You even betray me by getting close with those two.”

Ryo suddenly caught on. Those two, Yamapi must’ve been talking about Kazuya and Tatsuya.

“I’ll kill them,” Yamapi told him blankly even though his expression was angry.

Ryo knew that Yamapi was serious.

“Don’t harm them. They have nothing to do with this,” he said worriedly.

But it seemed that Yamapi was not listening to him as he turned around only to have Ryo quickly reacted and ran in front of the guy.

“Yamapi, stop this. They have nothing to do with this!” he said loudly.

Yamapi glared at him.

“You are protecting that is what is wrong, Ryo! And why do you even care for those monsters!” he screamed.

Unexpectedly, before Ryo could stop his hand, he slapped Yamapi across his cheek, making the guy frowned and looked at him with shock.

Ryo frowned as he withdrew his hand back. He didn’t mean to…he just didn’t want Yamapi to harm his saviors. Those two were very kind to him. For Yamapi to call them a monster when they save his life, it was just not right.

“I-I…” he stuttered, he can’t find the right word to say after what he had done.

Instead, Yamapi gritted his teeth and it had seemed like he was going to cry except that he didn’t. He brought out a weapon that that looked like a very sharp claw.

“Move Ryo, or I’ll kill you.”

Ryo stood his ground even though he knew that Yamapi was very furious with him.

“I won’t. I’m not going to move, Yamapi. You’ll have to kill me before you harm them. They are innocent,” he continued.

But Yamapi would have none of it as he took a step forward and Ryo tried to grab him to stop him except that Yamapi quickly moved out of the way, making Ryo ran past him.

Then he didn’t hesitate to slash the guy’s with the sharp claw due to anger and jealously. He didn’t want to see Ryo protecting other when he couldn't even protect himself, and the way Ryo was speaking of those monsters disgust him.

The both of them seemed shock, but the most who seemed shocked was Yamapi himself since he had forgotten that the claws contain poison. Both of his hands trembled and he let go as his hands were stained by his ex-lover’s blood.

Ryo just gasped and stumbled around with shock, staring at him, he knew that he wouldn’t survive this. His back was burning, and he knew that it was poison. The poison quickly spread into his body so quickly that he was paralyze, but he knew that he had to say the words no matter what.

“I-”

Yamapi took a step back, shaking his head.

Ryo kept his gaze on the guy as his knees fell onto the ground.

“…love…you,” he finished softly and fell limply into the ground.

Yamapi on the other hand didn’t want to believe Ryo’s words. Ryo had betrayed him by running away. Now this guy was becoming good friends with those monsters. He couldn’t accept it.

Then he heard a voice, calling for Ryo. He recognized the voice and quickly took out a potion from his leather messenger bag. He quickly gulped it down and hid behind the tree, knowing that the potion would help him became undetectable.

There, he saw a beautiful guy who skin was so white that he looked like a walking dead spotted Ryo. The guy frowned before running up to Ryo in a flash.

“Ryo!” the guy shouted and shook Ryo’s body.

Yamapi watched how the vampire started crying. He suddenly felt even angrier than usual. It was because of this vampire that other werewolf that he had to kill Ryo. It was all their faults.

After what had seemed to be more than an hour, the vampire stood up. His eyes flashed red.

“Tatsuya, I can’t believe you!”

Then he was gone in a flash.

When Yamapi heard that, a sudden plan suddenly occurred to him. He came out from his hiding place and observed Ryo’s back that seemed to be like a werewolves claw. So that vampire believed that his werewolf friend had killed Ryo?

He approached the dead body, who was lying on the ground so peacefully.

“It was all your fault, Ryo. You shouldn’t protect those monsters,” he gritted and brought out a large snake fang in his bag.

He pressed the fang into the side of Ryo’s neck, making more blood dripped out.

Then he stood up since he quickly heard that someone was coming. The step was rather heavy.

With one glance at Ryo, his eyes darkened and ran away.

It was their entire fault. It was their entire fault that he had to kill Ryo, so he would make sure that they would never be happy also.

Just then, Tatsuya spotted Ryo’s body, and he ran up to him. He had come back because he had a bad feeling.

But he was late.
