American Nightmare-"The Sun Isn't Getting Any Brighter" (Bridge 9, silver labels) Throw in with a bigger trade. I'll admit I don't "get" this band, but whatever.
Restless Youth "State of Confusion" (Painkiller, red) Well, it's a band with the word "youth" in their name in the year 2005, so you kinda gotta take this with a grain of salt. You can't really talk about this record without bringing up a Bad Brains, or better yet an Underdog brand of Bad Brains worship. I guess it makes sense if you're gonna rip off a hardcore band to rip off the best hardcore band ever, but let's just say it sounds a lot better in principle than practice. Still, these guys can definately play, and the songs aren't obtrusively "generic" or anything, but the vocals push it a little close to the "wacky" sun.
Sairaat Mielet "Tippa Tappaa" (self released Finnish pressing) Man have I been looking for the Finnish pressing of this record for a long ass time, I guess ever since I got the HCR press from Vaccuum. Needless to say, $30 on ebay was a paltry fee to pay for such a fine gem. Those vocals still hit me hard everytime I play this record.
Shattered Faith "I Love The USA" b/w "Reagan Country" (Posh Boy, silver labels) Part of what will go down in history as the Greg Cuntingham 2005 trade
Sick of it All "s/t" (Revelation, 1st press, #'d 002/1000) Part of what will go down in history as the Greg Cuntingham 2005 trade. My 3rd favorite Revelation release by the way.
v/a "Together" (Revelation, 1st press w/ SOIA, Warzone, Gorilla Biscuits, Bold, Side By Side, Supertouch, Youth of Today) Part of what will go down in history as the Greg Cuntingham 2005 trade.
Unit Pride "Then And Now" (Point Blank, gold) Part of what will go down in history as the Greg Cuntingham 2005 trade.
Warzone "Lower East Side Crew" (Revelation, 1st pressing) Okay, so about a month before this kid I know broke edge, he decided for no reason at all he needed to get 1st pressings of Rev 1-12 or something, which he did by paying exorbitant amounts of money on ebay. I know, don't ask me. Anyhoo, about two years later I come along with a stockpile of Le Shok 7"s and current records, like the Bomb Builder 12" and shit like that and get all his edge records off him. Rev 1-3 first pressings for a bunch of Le Shok 7"s? DONE.
Motorhead "Inferno" 2xLP (Cargo/Steamhammer/SPV) A record I bought strictly from the suggestions of the HRPS board, and was not even a little bit let down. Even though Motorhead is one of my all time favorite bands, I seriously haven't liked a full album they've done since "Orgasmatron" and I don't even think I've payed attention to anything past "1916," but this is a real hard hitter. I think what really impresses me about this and makes me keep coming back is how the songwritting sounds, for lack of a better word, relevent. It doesn't sound like Motorhead-trying-to-be-1981-Motorhead-in-2005, it doesn't sound like Motorhead-trying-to-kowtow-to-the-younger-audience-in-2005, it just sounds like a Motorhead record that was made in 2005, and a damn good one at that. No cartooney throwback schtick (save for a few choice lines in the lyrics, but c'mon, you're still paying attention to Motorhead lyrics?), no embarassing senior moments, just a fucking great record. Something like "Down On Me" which are kind of outside the standard Motorhead idiom sounds perfectly in step with "Inferno," which is "that Motorhead sound" to the T. And I'm pretty sure they could have fit this on a single LP, but the 3 songs per side makes for the perfect dosage. A fucking +, and no regrets regarding the approximately $25 import fee.
SSD "How We Rock" (Modern Method) Traded for and Adamantium LP. You try and figure out the winner.
Integrity "Septic Death Covers" (A-C-E-T-A-T-E for one side of the record, totally one of a kind) traded for a Gritos Suburbano comp. Sometimes I feel like I should just collect commemorative plates or something like that.
